This little boy didn’t want to school.
He ran away from his mom.
Enter Officer Shonley from the Rohnert Park Police Department.
Here’s what the department posted on Facebook:
... “Thank You Nichole Christensen for taking a picture of Officer Shonley and this young man.
Unfortunately this fella did not want to go to school and he ran away from his mom.
Officer Shonley was able to get down to his "level" and get him back to mom.”
On a side note, the other day I was going to work.
I pulled into a yellow zone to get a sandwich.
All of a sudden I saw an Oakland motorcycle officer coming from the same direction as me.
And he pulled in right next to me.
I remember thinking:
Dang it.. did I not stop long enough at a stop sign?
I was sure he was going to give me a ticket.
I got out of the car and put my head down.
And he said:
"Sir I just want to say I watch you on TV and you do a good job."
Big exhale.
We talked for about five minutes.
We talked about police shootings.
We talked about police work.
He was a young Asian man.
He’s been on the force for about five years.
What I remember the most about our conversation was that he said he LOVES coming to work.
He loves being an officer.
He loves helping people.
I walked away smiling and thinking that he's a good guy.
(Okay I was also thinking thank god he didn’t give me a ticket… cause MAYBE I did kind of roll thru that stop sign)
Sometimes words don't matter.
The picture says it all.
The Rohnert Park Police Department posted this.
They wrote:
“Motor Officer Justin Thompson is really feeling the love today after locating a missing (special needs) resident on the creek path.”
I can’t get stop looking at this picture.
You can just feel the compassion.
Well done Officer Thompson.
