My appearance with Anderson Cooper on CNN's AC360 on Thursday, discussing themes from my recent op-ed on "post-truth America." If we can call lies lies and nonsense nonsense, the truth has a chance! We can disagree on priorities, methods, and every sort of political belief. But we cannot let there be a red state reality and a blue state reality. Facts are facts. What the Republicans are doing during these impeachment hearings is not spin or typical political double-speak. It's lying. They are spreading false information that they know is false. That much of it was concocted by Putin to damage the US and weaken American support of Ukraine makes it even worse. Trump may be gullible enough to believe whatever Putin puts in his head, and Giuliani will believe anything anyone pays him to believe, apparently. But the Congressional GOP falling into line behind them to smear US diplomats, national security, and law enforcement is disgusting and dangerous.
