I can never thank the Gettysburg Church of the Brethren enough for all that you did for my family. Before I went to school, we met, I believe, on Stratton St. in town, and after that is when your curr...ent church was built.
In the years that followed, we went to your current location.
All of the members were prime examples of Jesus' Love in Action. Anna Kepner was my Sunday School teacher in jr. and sr. high school. Her dedication to the church, local, national, and international, made a huge impression on me. On two occasions, she and her mother drove me and several other girls to Annual Conference in Iowa and New Jersey. I'm sure that she did that for others, too.
Your church is a work of art, an inspiration for persons with artistic sensibilities, but it is more than that. It is, also, a place of hope and a place for celebration. I was baptized there. I was married there. And Anna Kepner steered me in the direction of a Brethren College (Elizabethtown). That was instrumental in my life, as today, I am professor emerita at McPherson College in Kansas, one of our Church of the Brethren colleges in the mid-west.
I have a warm place in my heart for the Gettysburg Church of the Brethren and its many inspiring ministries. Please continue the legacy of loving today's youth into the fold, as you have the capacity to inspire and point them in a direction so that they can carry on the future of our beloved church.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for focusing me in the right direction!
