Marcia Gay Harden, your book is a living testament to the inspiring person your mother is. These words will connect with so many, myself included as my grandmother suffered from Alzheimer’s. It’s a devastating and cruel disease and you have created something beautiful from it. Thank you for sharing with me and my mother-in-law.
50 years gone by...We remember. We rise. We resist injustice, apathy, and inhumanity. And we choose nonviolence: as a posture, as a philosophy, and as a path to... systemic change, heart change and the Beloved Community. The dream lives and the revolution is here. #MLK #MLK50Forward mlk50forward.org
A close friend of mine, who sadly passed away in January, started the #VermontMountaineers league 25 years ago for collegiate athletes to have the opportunity to be seen by MLB scouts. I’m a big baseball fan and a proud supporter of this organization. It was a true pleasure to speak at their Hot Stove Banquet this year!
I wear my bracelet proudly and I hope you will to. The #TextLessLiveMore movement aims to save lives by ending distracted driving. I was able to speak with the inspiring students of #MontpelierHighSchool this morning and they have taken their pledge. I want to encourage you to do the same. Did you know 9 people are killed everyday in the US due to distracted driving? Put the phone down. It can wait!
