2017 has been a busy year for the brigade. We attended 147 emergency calls, ranging from false alarms, building fires, wildfire and motor vehicle accidents to name a few. Aside from attending these emergencies our members spent countless hours training and undertaking other duties that keep the brigade running, we even found time to drop a bride to her wedding. From everyone at the Gisborne Fire Brigade, have a safe and happy 2018, we're hoping for a quiet year!

Driving on country roads can be hazardous, especially when driving during low light conditions. Keep an eye out for kangaroos, hazards such as fallen trees and icy and slippery conditions and reduce your speed and turn your headlights on to low beam if conditions are poor.

What is a spot fire?

This video by Ararat Fire Brigade shows how quickly spot fires can start.

Spot fires can start several KM in front of fires. This can be a dangerous situation and why we advise people to leave early on hot days, before fires start.
