Just took over a new batch of books to our Maple City satellite, at the MC Health and Fitness Center. There are over 300 great titles to choose from, including quite a few recently-published novels, and a nice assortment of kid's picture books. Borrow as many as you'd like, and return them whenever you're finished.

Over 200 new children's books were donated for our Holiday Book Drive, bringing a little extra holiday cheer to some very deserving young readers in our community. Thanks to the Friends of the Library for their sponsorship of this rewarding program, and to Lynn Becker, especially, for leading the way. Thanks also to Sue Boucher, of the Cottage Book Shop, and Kathy Bartell of Parenting Communities at Glen Lake Schools, for their support.

Please note that the presentation we had scheduled for this evening - Intro to Essential Oils, with Sole Wright - has been cancelled because of severe weather and hazardous driving conditions. We hope to reschedule Sole's talk for a later date. Stay tuned.... and warm!

The Library of Michigan and Detroit Public Television are partnering to bring these three "virtual field trips" to Michigan students next week. You can view the programs here at the library, on December 12, 13, and 14, or watch from home.

DPTV, the Detroit Zoological Society, Leslie Science & Nature Center, and the Organization for Bat Conservation will take you on a virtual field trip inside habitats to view first-hand animal behavior! Click the links below to go to each of our screenings:

There's a great article in today's Leelanau Enterprise about all four public libraries here in our county. Take a look, beginning on the first page of Section 2. It also features this fine picture from one of our Stories & More gatherings!
