I've been visiting the nature center since college and it never fails to delight, no matter the season! Always a beautiful place to spend an afternoon, with plenty of wildlife, walking paths, and scen...ery to keep visitors entertained ! See More

This morning I visited this nature center for the first time, and I saw a mink before even making it up the sidewalk to the building! My trip was made in the first five minutes! But my great experienc...e didn't stop there. The interactive exhibits inside helped me and my family become familiar with Great Plains plants and wildlife, and the trails outside allowed us an opportunity to further experience some of the native flora and fauna. The kids loved feeding the ducks, turtles and carp with the animal food, and we enjoyed the paved trails (where we didn't have to worry about getting ticks or chiggers). I highly recommend a visit to this nature center, and I will definitely visit again! See More

I have been enjoying coming here for 15 years. Love this place. The only bummer is, people bring dogs early in the morning thinking it's ok. Don't get me wrong I am a doggy person. But when it clearly... states no dogs (no dog poo) it's disappointing people don't follow the rules. See More

Great walks that highlight marsh and prairie ecosystems in the heart of the city. Sometimes you can see deer and rare birds. Plenty of ducks and turtles.

Nice learning facility and giftshop also.

Thought I'd get out and try some fishing. It's been way too hot and way too dry so the water level was frighteningly low. But it was quiet and relaxing. I even saw some deer.

Always fun to bring the grand kids to visit. Best gift shop around! Thanks to the front desk staff for giving us the cone with fish food - the turtles loved it and our grand daughter had fun feeding them.

This is a hidden gem in Wichita. The little museum is very nice. The people working there are very friendly. I talked to the woman in the gift shop for about 30 minutes about hummingbirds. There are l...ots of nice trails along Chisholm Creek. There are also a couple of catch and release fishing ponds. You will need artificial lures as no live bait is allowed. See More

Love to walk in the evenings and see the animals coming out. Unfortunately people don't care where they throw their trash, we always see bottles and paper trash collected in the low areas of water.

It's Kansas Day, so here's some trivia about our state mammal, the American Bison. Did you know, their numbers in Kansas dropped from over 4 million in 1871 to zero just 8 years later in 1879? They've since been reintroduced in multiple locations across the prairie. Can you guess what year the American Bison was named the state mammal?
