2017 ACTIVITY SUMMARY
In 2017 Greensburg Police Department (GPD) patrolled over 50,000 miles; issued over 1300 traffic citations, which include 80 for speeding,... 132 for failure to wear seatbelts, and the remainder were for licensing, insurance, equipment and miscellaneous violations.
GPD arrested 14 DUIs and made 363 criminal and traffic arrests; 48 % of these arrests were for out of county warrants. The arrests range from Assault, Theft, Burglary, Trafficking in Controlled Substance, Failure to Appear, Attempting to Elude, No Insurance, No Operator’s License, Possession of Controlled Substance, etc.
Officers conducted 3,011 security checks after hours at businesses and residences.
GPD responded to 32 Domestic violence calls and arrests were made in 20 of these calls. GPD also responded to 62 alarm calls, which include residential and business alarms. Seven parking citations were issued for various parking violations. GPD also responded to and investigated 66 vehicle accidents in 2017 as compared to 76 in 2016. Officers of GPD conducted 102 Criminal investigations. The average response time for calls for service in 2013 was less than two minutes.
GPD Officers were required to attend approximately 100 hours in Court and received over 240 hours of training in 2017.
2017 data shows a slight decrease in domestic violence calls as compared to 2016. GPD saw a decline in complaint calls by 121 calls. Accidents also declined in 2017 as compared to 2016. Criminal arrest increased by 65 in 2017as compared to 2016.
