It looks like the best day/time for UHCSA meetings this term is Wednesday at 6pm in LInC 360. It looks like Trisha will not be able to attend, so I will need someone to take over taking minutes and sending them out. If you are interested in running for an officer position for next year, this may be a good opportunity for you to get some practice! Trisha will still be helping out of course, but won't be at meetings.
Come to Buffalo Wild Wings anytime between 9am and 2am, February 26th to have some of their delicious food while donating to the Linn-Benton Food Share! 15% of proceeds will go to this great organization on behalf of the Honors College, so spread the love and have some great food!
Note: You MUST have the ticket in order for the Food Share to get a part of the proceed. You may print it out, pick it up in the SLUG or West Hall.
IN FIVE MINUTES the Honors College Civic Engagement Intern is hosting a Service Panel in the West Hall Main Lounge! If you are interested in learning how to connect with on and off campus partners within the realm of civic engagement, this is a great opportunity for you. Representatives from the Human Service Resource Center (HSRC), Center for Civic Engagement (CCE), Dave Kovac's Building Homes and Hope group, and more will be available.
Catering will also be providing a great dinner! Come to the West Hall main lounge at 5pm for this great event!
Starting February 15, there will be baked goods at the library made by UHC faculties and students. Come stop by and try some goodies! ALL proceed will go to Linn Benton Food Share.
Head over to the SLUG for a Study Break (food and the Star Wars movies!!). The event will take place until 4:30pm today:).
Come to ROXY DAWGS anytime between 9am and 11pm, February 23rd to have some of their delicious food while donating to the Linn-Benton Food Share! 25% of proceeds will go to this great organization on behalf of the Honors College, so spread the love and have some great food!
UHCSA Study Break Winter 2016: The Star Wars themed Study Break is tomorrow (Tuesday, February 2) from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the SLUG! Make sure to come to watch the Star Wars movies, engage in some star-wars related crafts with your honors college peers, eat some yummy snacks, and take a well-deserved study break!
It's February 1st! You know what that means! OSU's Annual Food Drive! Every year, OSU hosts a food drive and various organizations/departments have the option of participating in the race. All of the food and proceed that we collect from now until February 29th (happy leap year!) will be donated to the Linn Benton Food Drive.
Last year, we were able to raise over $1,000. Let's try and beat that! Check out the poster below and see how you can participate. Also, check the Monday Message to see if there are any further events.
Roxy Dawg is also currently having a promotion on the Groupon website where you can get $7 for $13 worth of food. https://www.groupon.com/deals/roxy-dawgs-3
So, I would suggest buying one now and using it on February 23rd.
Hello Honors Students!
As a part of our annual Winter Book Club and our Literary Arts Events, the Honors College will be sponsoring a trip to Portland on January 21st to see a talk by author Adam Gopnik. We have 3 spaces available for this trip. By committing to this trip, you will get a free copy of Adam Gopnik’s book, “Through the Children’s Gate: A Home in New York” as well as a ticket and transportation to the talk by Adam Gopnik.
You will need to be available from 5pm-...10pm on Thursday, January 21st in order to receive a spot. If you are interested, please send an e-mail to Cole.Whited@oregonstate.edu and state that you would like to attend. Also, include any dietary restrictions you may have, as I will be ordering a light dinner.
There will also be a discussion group/meeting on Monday, January 11th at 5:00pm in Learning Innovation Center 446 in which students will be discussing the book, “Through the Children’s Gate: A Home in New York.” Attending this meeting is not required to get a spot on the trip to Portland, but it is recommended that you attend. Please state whether or not you will be attending the discussion group in your e-mail as well.
Thanks everyone, and have a great first week of classes!
The first UHCSA meeting of the term will be taking place on this Wednesdsay, January 6th at 7:30pm in LInC room 350. We will begin discussing and working on the Food Drive so we can attempt to defend our title!
See you Wednesday!
