I will revise this review after the meeting, but for now, I'm very disappointed that this hateful resolution was even proposed. I grew up in Morristown: my parents still live there, and we visit regul...arly. What am I supposed to tell my gay friends and family members about my hometown? "Well, I know what they passed, but not everybody there is like that. No, you'll probably be safe if you go there." Probably.

Because make no mistake, this is not about Christianity. This is about sending a signal to gay, lesbian, bisexual, and trans people--your friends and neighbors, your family members--that they are not welcome and not safe.

This is not about the non-judgemental love of Christ for all, but about prejudice, pre-judging somebody based on who they happen to fall in love with. This shows no love for thy neighbor, but hatred, pure and simple. No one who votes for this resolution will he able to say different. How can they? The truth is plain, and they have been told.

There are many, many ways to show your Christian faith, but the simplest is just not to throw stones.

I’d give 0 stars if it let me. Aside from the fact that you're denouncing folks’ lifestyles (of which you have zero business in, anyway), you’re doing the city and all of East Tennessee a serious inju...stice by letting the weak minds of a few affect the lives and businesses of many. Realize the personal and economic damage done by H.B. 2 in North Carolina, all because a few backwards, old men consider the separation of church and state similar to that of their brain and anal cavity; there is none.

All of you in the Hamblen County Commision and the Patriot’s Brigade can find me real mean in a parking lot one afternoon if this crap leads to anymore bullying and ostracizing than already occurs in our schools and community.

We have loved visiting Morristown and the surrounding area to play disc golf, visit parks, restaurants, go shopping, and patronize the many quaint and welcoming local businesses, but will be boycottin...g the county if this ridiculous and embarrassing anti-gay marriage resolution is adopted. Get your act together, Hamblen County! You are making Tennesee look backwards. We thought you were a sweet welcoming neighbor, and are so sad to see that you are letting an agenda of hate into such a beautiful area.

I look forward to you correcting this error, and making visible efforts to be inclusive to ALL your residents and visitors, so that I can give a better review.

To take up the anti-marriage equally resolution recommended by the Patriot’s Brigade is an embarrassment. Those who support and pass this resolution will be remembered in the same way we remember thos...e who kept fighting for segregation.

This argument is over, justice and equality have won the day. Everyone is free to have their personal opinion on homosexuality, but no one can deny gays equal treatment under the law.

This resolution only harms the county’s image and insults many of its residents. Do not pass it.

It’s despicable for these men to feel they have the right to tell people who they can and can’t marry. The bigotry and hatred is rampant, and they still wonder why the younger population is so ready t...o leave when they’re able. Heed this. You will be met with a wall, gentlemen. This wall will not bend to your demands. And you will meet it soon. See More

We always enjoyed stopping in Morristown on our way to Greeneville from Knoxville. But we will never spend another dime nor any of our time in an area that works to pass such a hateful resolution. You...r county is an embarrassment to the state of Tennessee. See More

A County Commission full of bigots, voting to condemn same sex marriage two years after the Supreme Court declares it legal in all 50 States, has made Hamblen County an embarrassment to Tennessee, and... the United States of America. See More

A county commission that entertains resolutions directly in conflict with the law is shameful. If they continue down this road I will boycott this county and encourage others to do so as well.

The Hamblen County government is wasting time and tax payer money voting on an anti-marriage resolution. Do they not have more important things to worry about?

You are completely ridiculous excuses for elected officials and should be ashamed of the way you’ve chosen to waste your tax payers time

I’m revising my review in light of the city commission’s vote to strike down the resolution that would oppose the Supreme Court’s ruling on marriage equality. I am proud of my local government for the right thing and for listening to their citizens. See More
