Countdown to MY anniversary! On August 26th, I;ll celebrate 15 years sober. This month is the 'anniversary of my bottom," and every year at this time, my body seems to remember the sadness and loneliness I was experiencing during that phase of my life. SO grateful that I took that First Step that changed everything!
Friday night and it's just past closing time at the bars here in Moab. I'm on a road trip across the US, sleeping in my van and mistakenly parked for the night down the block from a lounge. Guess I, ummm, forgot what they are like after midnight! GRATEFUL for 1) not being drunk and in that bar, and 2) that it is closed and the THUMP, THUMP, THUMP bass line is over! hahah
An experience I witnessed today reminds me of what I've been told in AA regarding 12th Step Work: never make a 12th Step Call alone. They'll get you drunker a lot faster than you will get them sober!
I've started building a website for Happy, Joyous and Free, which I hope will become a nice resource for those in and seeking sobriety. It's slow-going, but One Day At A Time, I'll take The Steps, building upon a Solid Foundation... hahaha. Will keep you posted, and until then, do visit our eBoutique at http://www.zazzle.com/hjandf
Happy, Joyous and Free Wishes All a Wonderful Holiday Season and a healthy Sober 2011! Remember - You DON'T have to be alone during these times. Many AA groups hold sober parties, and run marathon meetings on xmas/NY Eve! If you're worried about being alone - raise your hand in a meeting and SHARE!
