"Pirro had blocked me from getting further DNA testing several times and preserved my wrongful conviction in seven appeals." Think about this and ask yourself WHY would our justice system not use all available resources to find the truth? The costs of money and time and wasted lives is unconscionable. Just as with Jeffrey Deskovic, Marty Tankloff etc, MANY people know the truth about Paul Cortez and help keep it hidden. Do not think that wrongful convictions happen without people showing tremendous disregard for justice.

He was wrongfully imprisoned for 16 years. Now, Deskovic is a Pace U. law student. 'I lost so much to a flawed criminal justice system,' he says.

SIX days left to raise money we desperately need to pay for resources to enable us to have new evidence be seen and become part of the case. This will hopefully allow Paul to have a new FAIR trial which will without doubt prove his innocence. If you have ever thought about lending support, this would be the time to contribute. Everyone deserves a fair opportunity to prove innocence but Paul was denied that because of his inability to pay for decent legal representation. Please help us correct this horrific injustice. https://www.crowdjustice.com/case/paulcortez/

I do not know Marty Tankleff personally but have followed the story and the incredible fight for hi...s freedom from afar. I will not profess to know all the horrors he experienced being convicted of murdering someone he loved and being convicted of an act I am convinced he could never commit. I cannot begin to imagine what despair he suffered in 19 years. To me, his decency and goodness is evident. I am happy he has found incredible support and love from a strong women and her daughter. I am excited he has achieved a profession and perhaps can blend this into giving somewhat of a purpose from his horrific experience. I applaud him, his strength, and his ability to focus on bringing positive to his life. As a supporter of someone in a similar situation, I am hoping the public will be horrified by his story. I am hoping people will challenge their sense of morality and ask important questions about our justice system...how can this happen, how does the press influence public opinion and help construct a formula for conviction, how could it possibly take 19 years for the truth to be accepted, who is held responsible for the many deliberate injustices, why are there endless barriers to justice, why is it so impossible to overturn a wrongful conviction no matter how that conviction was gotten etc etc etc. Very few people know and understand the process involved once a person is convicted. Most people feel there is an appeal ( not understanding the realities of an appeal) and if that holds, they are quite confident justice has been served. Could anyone possibly believe to have new or overlooked (hidden) facts be introduced costs big bucks because of massive legal procedures. It is sad to know how ignorance of the legal system allows people to have a false sense of security. What an eye opener when reality visits those we love.

Interesting...prosecutor couldn't make a case on her words and admissions and plug in her car but different prosecutor had not problem creating and constructing a case based on false and created information to convict Paul..Let's talk about that equal justice for all BS.

Paul Cortez has now been in prison for more than 11 years for a crime he did not commit. Even though the unequivocal evidence proving his innocence has been uncovered (surveillance video and fingerprint evidence), he must now navigate through our legal system that is more concerned with procedure than ultimately reaching the correct verdict. The next steps in his fight require extensive and expensive legal filings.

Thankfully, last week, the New York Times printed an article beginning to expose the corrupt and wrongful conviction of Paul Cortez. Please consider pledging to the crowd funding campaign below (and sharing the link).

PAUL MEETS CARDINAL DOLAN

On Monday, Cardinal Dolan visited the Chapel of Saint Paul in the Green Haven Correctional Facility to celebrate the church’s 50 year anniversary. It was so meaningful for Paul to meet with Cardinal Dolan and partake in the celebratory mass. After the mass, the Poughkeepsie Journal interviewed Paul - you can watch that interview in the link below.

For people who do not know Paul, their image of him has been shaped by the sensationalized and distorted... versions created by the media. The headlines screamed he was a "Hispanic Lothario" prone to violence with an inability to respect any values other than the ones that surrounded him in the violent Bronx neighborhood where he was raised. He was presented as a hulking weight lifting, immoral predator who was void of faith or worship with little regard for others, especially women. We were shocked and saddened by this outlandish depiction as Paul has always been known by his soft spoken gentle and caring nature.

During these many years of incarceration, Paul has faced unbelievable challenges and hardships. We have all seen the true strength and goodness of Paul Cortez. Paul’s strong religious beliefs guided him and sustained him throughout his this wrongful conviction. Throughout the past 11 years of Paul’s wrongful incarceration his incredible decency, kindness and his respect for others has been on full display. Paul has spent the past decade of his life trying to to make life better for all those around him.
Statistics confirm prison hardens people and finds them making compromises for survival. But, throughout this horrific ordeal, Paul continues to remain the same incredibly decent, caring person with strong religious values.

We pray that Paul will have support of all fair minded people who will support efforts for him to have the ability to prove in a fair court of law what we are certain without doubt. Paul Cortez is innocent and the victim of a wrongful conviction.
