Hurricane Irma is passing over Northern Haiti right now. Our thoughts are with the people in Haiti and also the other nations in the Caribbean that were devastated by the storm. We are also preparing and praying for the safety of our family and friends in Florida. We will stand together and help more diligently than ever during these natural disasters.
Sa fe lon temps nou pa we! Apologies for the long silence but HOH has been working furiously this summer to plan out fundraising events this year and getting the brand new website ready! A few but wonderful updates about Ecole fraternite social de Fond-vin:
This year 196 students will be attending EFSF. The new toilets for the school is finally finished and ready to use for the students! Construction is underway for a two-story building with new classrooms. Hope of Haiti is planning another art auction this semester to provide funds to ensure construction goes on as planned.
We will provide the link to the new website as soon as it is finished and you can sign up to be on the email list to receive regular updates on news regarding the school and Haiti in general.
Good evening everyone! Just wanted to clarify on earlier posts about the event we posted about a couple weeks ago. Hope of Haiti has partnered up with SHRI: Students of Hinduism Reaching Inward to help raise more funds for the school. During the celebration for the Holi festival, Hope of Haiti will be selling Haitian hot chocolate (the event itself is free) and can also collect donations. Come if you can!
Come and have some pain patate for only $3 as a fulfilling study-break snack during Reading Days (Dec 14)! All proceeds from this sale will be going towards funding youth education in Haiti.
Good evening and apologies for the late update. Hope if Haiti was able collect $183 in donations for hurricane relief efforts in southern Haiti! A big thank you to all who have donated and made this a success!
This Family and Friends weekend, Hope of Haiti will be selling Marykay and Avon products at Blanchard from October 21st 8-9:30pm and October 22nd 1-2:30pm. The proceeds from this sale will be donated to reputable charities in Haiti contributing towards Hurricane Matthew relief efforts.
Hurricane Matthew has had devastating effects, most emphasized in Haiti. The south of Haiti was devasted; a thousand Haitians lost their lives and many are without homes. During Friends and Family weekend at Mount Holyoke College, Hope of Haiti will be raising funds by selling Avon and Marykay products to donate to charities that will contribute to relief efforts. We will be at Blanchard from 8-9:30 pm on October 21st and 1-2:30 pm on October 22nd. Please come by and donate if you can!
With $1500 USD out of $4000 total fund made from the Haitian Art Auction event last semester and generous grant from MHACASA, staff at EFSF primary school in Pernier, Port Au Prince, Haiti have started the construction of the new school bathroom for 160+ students. This bathroom was asked, designed, built by this community. EFSF principal Innocent Dorce was able to consult a friend engineer and hire workmen for the job. Some parents of the students also stepped up to volunteer at the construction! As you can see the construction is progressing at a good pace. Soon students will have a sanitary, safe, convenient bathroom for important business and perhaps another reason to stay longer and study at school!
