Heard "Shield your eyes" playing on the muzak in caribou coffee in Charlotte N.C. Great stuff.
So- this is my buddy Jason Garcia's latest musical output from his band PowPow. It's a 2 song single that I actually performed on (bass, backup harmonies, and glockenspiel) along with Beth Barry, Daniel Jones, and Lars Goransson. My other contribution to this release was "reminding" Jason that he wrote the song 'Be Sweet' towards the end of Household Names and that he should revamp it in this new band. That original demo version is included on this album along with the demo version for the other song, 'Sadie, Say It Again'. So here's your chance to listen to the evolution of these songs from demo to finished product. Then watch the included behind-the-scenes video to get the full effect of the song recording process. THEN, come back here and tell me which versions you like the best!
Hey Household Names fans. My new project is called Cautiontape and I highly recommend you check us out. We're fronted by former Petals singer Britani Kagan and I do harmonies and co-write. It's completely different, yet still very me. "Like" us here: https://www.facebook.com/cautiontapeband
Why not take a trip down memory lane with one of our songs, "Secrecy", on Earbits radio? And if you've never heard it, enjoy! http://www.earbits.com/s/OYBZ9i8YGgmE3E
Gotta love the random cable TV shows placing our songs. Apparently "One of Two Things" was on a "Man vs Food Presents Carnivore" episode. Oh, the irony.
Pre-order no more! Today you can order the full deluxe single package of "Sadie, Say It Again" with demos and behind-the-scenes video. Preview the songs here!
"I have a station in my head, plays your songs...." I had to listen to this RIGHT NOW. I thought about how much I love every song on this entire CD and just had to hear it. The title track "Picture In My Head" is a perfect song to wake up to. If you haven't heard of HOUSEHOLD NAMES, you have now! They are (STILL) one of my favorite bands in the whole wide world.
News: "Driving To LA" is being remastered for inclusion on The Lovedrunk Chronicles book soundtrack CD. The project sounds pretty cool; I have two songs on the soundtrack, the other being the forthcoming "Sadie, Say It Again" (from PowPow)
Household Names Retrospective, Song 4: Marc Brown, who also took the cover shot of this album, has championed this as our best song. And he's taken pics of the Go-Gos. He knows what he's talking about.
Household Names Retrospective, Song 3. The one that started it all! (Literally). This wasn't the first song I wrote by ANY means, but it was the first one on the first Household Names album and the first one of mine where I thought, ok, I'm getting into some serious writing here. It had a different vibe than pretty much all of my stuff up to that point, and it's a vibe I continue to try to cultivate.
Household Names Retrospective, Song 2: This is the only one of my songs that to my knowledge has ever spawned a recorded cover. Sir Paul Averitt did a great version a few years ago. Thanks, Paul!
I think I'm going to do my own retrospective. Narcissistic, yes, but hey who else will? Picking my favorite tracks from 10 years of Household Names. One every other day, or when I feel like it.
