Thanksgiving and Christmas were J.D.'s favorite time of the year. He understood how important families were to each of us. Especially being the 16th of November. I want to wish each and every one a special Thanksgiving wish for you and your loved ones. God bless each and every one and thank you on behalf of the Sumner family. Shirley Sumner Enoch

Two of them have been auctioned through Heritage Autction Galleries of Dallas, Texas. The last remaining microphone, will be auctioned sometime next year through Heritage. Thanks for your interest. Microphone #2 It was somewhat documented that in the early 1970's, Elvis was having a lot of trouble with sound equipment, especially his microphones. While touring with him, J.D. suggested to Elvis that he try the Shure SM81 and by doing that, he loaned Elvis three personal Shure SM 81. Elivs used these mics for almost two years before returning them to J.D.
Here is the answer to the microphone question.
J.D. used nothing but a Shure SM81. From the time it came on the market.
On a personal note, he was finatic about shound equipment. He always carried his own system and would only use his system whenever possible. If that were not a option, he would at least use his microphones.
