Devotional for our "Ice Sabbath"
2018 “Ice & Snow” Epiphany Sunday Devotional
Wednesday evening devotional - online due to icy weather forecasted.

Just thought we'd clarify something that is evident on our website but is harder to point out on Facebook: We are meeting for worship at 10:45 Sunday mornings in the auditorium/gym at Hunters Creek Middle School, located at 4040 Hunters Trail, Jacksonville NC 28546. Our address listed on our Facebook profile is for our office, 3590 Richlands Hwy, Jacksonville NC 28540 (i.e. our Sunday morning service is not yet on Richlands Hwy, although once we build our new building it will be!).

Join us to hear Simon Jothi, Principal and Academic Dean of South Asia Nazarene Bible College, tell of how the Lord is at work in South Asia. We will begin with a pot-luck meal at 6:30 p.m. with Simon Jothi sharing starting at 7 p.m. Join us at 3590 Richlands Hwy.

My father Billy Graham was once asked, “Where is Heaven?” He replied, “Heaven is where Jesus is and I am going to Him soon!” This morning, at the age of 99, he ...departed this world into eternal life in Heaven, prepared by the Lord Jesus Christ—the Savior of the world—whom he proclaimed for nearly 80 years. He will be missed by our family, his colleagues, faithful ministry partners, and, yes, many around the world. But what joy he has to be welcomed by God the Father, and be reunited with my mother in the presence of Jesus who speaks peace to eternal souls.

What about you? When you depart this world do you know with certainty where you will spend eternity? You can know this today. Jesus said, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16). The One who comforts weary souls has given us this promise, “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me … I go to prepare a place for you … I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also” (John 14:1-3).

Barclay said, “The thing which amazed the heathen in the centuries of persecution was that the martyrs did not die grimly; they died singing.” What song would you sing?

Watching and waiting today folks. Mixed precipitation will likely develop later this afternoon, changing to all light snow after sunset. Right now it's looking about 1" of snow for most areas, with 1 to 3" possible from the northern counties through the coast tonight. Temps will be plenty cold enough to create slick roadways by sunset into the overnight. No travel worries though about 2-4 pm...that will likely change as the sun sets. Jim
