Many of your are wondering the out come of the meeting we had Tuesday night and what the plan is moving forward.
We talked about the possibility of finding a permanent facility. This would require the club to have racing year round. To make this financially viable not only would we have our normal indoor facility but we would also need to run an outdoor off road track in the summer. The majority feels that this would be tough to do if Clark RC Park is going to be running a f...ull summer program like they have in the past. Erik Jensen will contact Clark RC Park and find out how often they plan on running and bring this info back to the club so we can decide what the next step is.
As for an indoor facility now, it doesn’t make much sense to get something for the 2 months we have left in this season. We are going to focus on getting an indoor facility with the intention of moving in September/October. There are plenty of places available, it’s just a matter of getting a hold of the owner of the building to negotiate a deal.
MARCCA has been around for close to 30 years and this is the first year that we could not find a building. It was bound to happen sooner or later. There is more then enough money in the bank to cover the cost of storage for at least a couple years so there is little concern for running out of money.
There has been several helping people bring to our attention some leads on places that are outside of Madison, and that is great! The club feels that our bread and butter (indoor racing) would suffer if it strayed too far out of Madison. What is too far? Probably no further then DeForest on the North side, Cottage Grove on the East side, Middleton on the West side, and Verona, Fitchburg, or McFarland on the South side although Oregon and Stoughton aren’t out of the question for the right place. More then half of the people that come to MARCCA do not actually live in Madison and many of them live 20 minutes or more from Madison. Moving too far any one direction from Madison may be too risky.
Remember, MARCCA is a 100% all volunteer club. We need everyones positive attitudes, eyes out for a building, and just flat out talking to people. You may stumble on someone that knows someone that can help end the search.
So lets everyone pull together, keep those eyes and ears open, and focus on making the 2018/2019 indoor season the best we’ve had!
Great place to race.
Many people have asked about updates on finding a new location and it seems like there may be several groups working independently to find something. In an effort to organize and combine those efforts it would probably be a good idea for all of us that are interested to meet soon.
With that said, we have scheduled a meeting on Tuesday Jan. 30th @ 7pm at Mr. Brews Taphouse in Monona.
Mr. Brews Taphouse...

We are officially all moved out and there is no need to come back on Sunday to finish up. We would like to give a huge thank you to the following people (in no particular order) who took the time to help us tear everything down and load it into the trailer.
With the great team work that these people provided, we got everything moved out in about 5 hours! That was amazing! Great job everyone!
Now, everyone, put your feelers out. We need a building so we can race!
Today is move out day! We will be loading everything into a semi trailer located at the dock. Please bring carts, tools and muscles. See you at the track starting at 10am today and tomorrow. Thanks!
Move out days are fast approaching and we have not found a place to move to yet. We have to be out by the end of the month which means that this weekend Oct 28-29 will be the move out days. We need all the help we can get. We are getting a semi trailer to put and store all the stuff in so we won’t need to make a bunch of trips to storage. We will start at 10am both Saturday and Sunday.
Over the last 5 year of being in this building, many personal tables and chairs have been l...eft at the track. We cannot promise that these things will get moved. If you still want them, please make arrangements to get them by Sunday.
If there is anyone from the drone side of things that wants to come get the net and any of the gates, the doors will be open Wednesday night after 6pm and Saturday and Sunday. The chances of getting another space adequate to fly drones in is small and it’s likely this stuff will be left behind.
If anyone knows a building owner or has direct contact with one who might have some space for us, please let us know.
If anyone is in need of some Gone Bananas Racing Skinz tomorrow, send Rick Seffrood a message. Next weekend is the Gone Bananas race in Iowa and he will not be around the following weekend due to his sons wedding.
Track is open! Racing at 4:30pm. First off road points race starts in 3 weeks. No better time than now to get your driving skills freshened up before the points series starts.
The indoor season has started, just in time for August weather to finally show up.🙄 Last weekend we had about a half dozen people show up and help get a new track layout in place and got the bulk of the cleaning done in 3.5 hours. The track will be open tomorrow(Sept 23) at noon for practice and racing at 4:30pm. Wednesday off road practice has started for the season too, so come on out and hone in those driving skills!
Building update…The owner of the building is going to te...ar the building down. This means we have to be out by October 31st. We have been renting the space on a month-to-month basis and we knew the time to move was going to come at some point. It is unfortunate that it is right at the beginning of our indoor season, but this is nothing the club has not dealt with in the past. Having said this, we need everyones help in finding a new place. If you see anything or know someone who has warehouse space, please send us an email firstname.lastname@example.org. We need at least 6000 square feet of space and most of that needs to be warehouse space for the track. Again, if anyone knows of anything, please let us know.
We will continue all racing programs till we move and the off road point series will still start on Oct. 21 as originally scheduled. We may have to change the length of the point series and reschedule some of the points weeks but we will look into that based on when we get a new building.
We have had a few people express their interest in running for a board member position and that’s great! As mentioned previously, we are looking for 6-8 individuals to be board members who are interested in making a difference in the club. We will make a sheet for nominations that will be posted on the bulletin board attached to the announcer booth. If you would like to run for a board member position please put your name on the nomination sheet, or if you think someone would be a good candidate, please put their name on there. If your name gets put on the sheet, you can always turn it down.
See you at the track!
