CRISTINA EMPHASIZES ROLE OF WOMEN IN DEVELOPMENT
Tacloban City – Strong women advocate and women causes Mayor Cristina G. Romualdez has emphasized the role of women in development during the Women’s Month Congress held March 20, 2018 at Robinsons North.
In her inspirational speech, Mayor Cristina has pointed out the huge role of women in development. “I salute the contribution they imparted in development” said Cristina, “to me they are their family’s heroes, rearing childre...n 24/7 become a better person is no joke. As a mother and housewife they pour out their love and compassion without expecting anything in return.
As a strong advocate on women, Mayor Cristina has shown how she extended her role to reach out to fellow female in establishing the only Women Shelter in Region 8. The shelter house located just at the foot of Kanhuraw Hill where the City Government seats houses Violently Abused Women and children (VAWC).
She likewise encourages the creation of women’s organization to illustrate the role of women in progress. Women organization such as the Tacloban City Council of Women (TCCW) which plays an important role in assisting Local Government Units (LGU) address concerns affecting women. President Rodrigo Duterte issued an Executive Order to all LGUs to this effect.
Thanking TCCW for the efforts extended to address concerns of Tacloban women, Mayor Cristina likewise uploads the various role of the TCCW in addressing children and men’s issues confronting women, and the environment.
In an interview with TCCW Chair Rebecca Ada, Ada stressed that the City Council came into existence after the President of the Philippines issuing an EO to all LGUs to create a women council that would help women.
According to Ada, presently the council is composed of 19 women organizations from various sector of the city. Various advocacy campaigns on Violence Against Women and girls (VAWC), Teenage Marriage and Early Pregnancy, Anti-AIDS, Anti-bullying, Anti Trafficking of person among barangay officials, Tacloban constituents and government agencies were among the campaign extended to Tacloban women.
With the creation of various women organization in the City, it loudly portrays how “We make change work for women”, as its 2018 WOMEN’s Month theme, the City Government of Tacloban led by its dynamic lady Mayor Cristina G. TACLOBANON GRATEFUL TO PRES. DUTERTE FOR THE DZR AIRPORT PASSENGER TERMINAL BUILDING EXPANSION
Tacloban City – Taclobanon and its Mayor Cristina G. Romualdez expresses their gratitude thanking the present administration headed by President Rodrigo Duterte in fast tracking the expansion of the passenger terminal building of Daniel Z. Romualdez (DZR) Airport.
“This means so much to us Taclobanon being the gateway in Eastern Visayas, the new passenger terminal airport expansio...n can bring in more tourist, more visitors and fellow Taclobanon back home to visit their love ones” said Mayor Cristina in an interview with TISAT.
Thank you Mr. President for always prioritizing the rebuilding of our City. We will be forever be grateful to you! Mayor Cristina further said.
The newly renovated passenger terminal building can now accommodate more flying in and out passengers using the Tacloban DZR Airport as their gateway to their destinations in Eastern Visayas.
Passenger Nelson Braga prouder than ever, couldn’t contain his enthusiasm, said “Mahusay na it am airport! salamat!, at last!” (Our airport is now beautiful, thank you, at last).
Inauguration of the newly renovated building were held March 16, 2018 graced by DOTC Secretary Arthur Tugade with Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) Director General Capt. Jim Sydiongco and officials of region 8.
In his speech Sec. Tugade said that the expansion project was part of the present administration commitment in providing every travelers and flying public a safe, comfortable and convenient airport terminal.
Most Taclobanon interviewed has unanimous reaction expressing their sincerest thanks to President Digong for the beautiful airport.
The expansion of the passenger terminal building can accommodate comfortably now our flying passengers that would fly in and out of the city.
“Gone are the discomfort days we all experienced while using the dilapidated DZR Airport then ruined by the 2013 super typhoon Yolanda/ Haiyan and Tacloban City was ground zero to said calamity, uttered by a businessmen who asked that his name not be mentioned.
Thank you Tatay Digong for improving our airport. The expansion project of the national government will benefit thousands of waray-waray in Eastern Visayas for Tacloban is the gateway to other parts of the region.

CRISTINA LEARN & EARN PROGRAM EMPOWERS TACLOBAN WOMEN
Tacloban City – As Tacloban joins the entire nation in celebrating Women’s Month yearly every March, Tacloban City has its unique way of empowering its women through the livelihood training courses being offered year round.
Hundreds of Tacloban women were empowered by the 10 year old Cristina Learn & Earn Program (CLEP), a comprehensive livelihood entrepreneurial program of the City through the courses being offered....
Founded by Mayor Cristina G. Romualdez year 2008 when she was still starting her political carrier as a councilor, looking at mother’s free time as a good opportunity in teaching them how to earn a living if trained with skilled courses, “filling up their idle time, waiting for their kids while in school doing nothing would be best”. She said in an interview.
CLEP started with simple cosmetology courses such as manicure, pedicure, hair cutting & hair styling. Massage & reflexology classes. Cooking foods for special occasion. Baking breads and cakes. Food processing from meat, fish and salted egg making. Dress making and table skirting.
It has blossomed from a one classroom training, bringing it to the barangay level and soon to be offered at its newly built CLEP Building, the only eco green solar building in Eastern Visayas built for Tacloban City by the Salvation Army, will house various training livelihood classes for women of Tacloban.
Today, the City through the effort of the City dynamic lady leader in the person of Mayor Cristina, infrastructures state of the art intended for women were likewise built. The WOMEN’s Shelter Haus, serves as temporary shelter house for Violently Abused Women (VAW) of Tacloban and children. Women likewise were empowered to work men’s job.

CITY VILLAGER AVAILS THE CITY’S OUTREACH PROGRAM AT BARANGAY 77 FATIMA VILLAGE
Tacloban City – Hundreds City villagers from barangays 75, 76, 77 and 96 availed the City Government Outreach Program led by Mayor Cristina G. Romualdez at Barangay 77, Evacuation Center, Fatima Village Tacloban City, and March 1, 2018.
Dubbed as the BARANGAYAN Caring, Giving & Reaching-Out, basic City services were brought directly to where the people are....
Among the services offered were Free Medical and Dental consultation, late birth registration, dental extraction, Libreng gupit from the CLEP (Comprehensive Livelihood Entrepreneurial Program), Operation Timbang and Nutritional Feeding, City Veterinarian programs, Senior Citizens Registration, Tacloban City Police Office advocacy tips on how to avoid crimes and many more.
Villagers of said barangays personally thanked Mayor Cristina Romualdez for bringing basic services to them.
Considering Taclobanons clamor of non-availment of basic services brought by economic reasons, especially in most far flung barangays, the City Government has brought its services right to their barangay.

MAYOR CRISTINA WENT A ROUND OF GARBAGE MONITORING UNITS
Tacloban City – Acting upon the trash issues of the City and after creating a compost monitoring team, garbage monitoring units were set up in six strategic areas of the city where bulk of wastes were noted.
Earlier this week, Mayor Cristina G. Romualdez went a round of each monitoring units to oversee its implementation....
In an interview, Mayor Cristina asks Taclobanon to be vigilant and report improper garbage collection to on duty staff posted in every Garbage Monitoring Units near your residence and contact nos. posted in every Garbage Monitoring Units.
Garbage monitoring outposts are situated at Congressman Artemio Mate Ave., Real St. (in front of St. Peter), Sagkahan (near Astrodome), San Jose (near the airport), Burayan (near Algo Homes) and Abucay.
Each outpost has assigned personnel to mann the area with specific assignment and schedules of garbage collection.
She assured Taclobanon that a consistent implementation of garbage collection issues brought to their attention will be taken cared of.
Mayor Cristina reiterated its concern, “to have a clean, green and resilient City we should be vigilant by reporting any violation made on the improper disposal of garbage, improper garbage collection and be responsible enough to help our City Government”.

TACLOBAN TREATS TSINO TACLOBANONS TO A CHINESE NEW YEAR EVE
Tacloban City – Recognizing the contribution Tsino Taclobanon has to the economy of the City, fellow Taclobanon led by its Mayor Cristina G. Romualdez treated the Chinese community to a Chinese New Year Eve at Patio Victoria, San Jose.
Mayor Cristina thanked the Chinese businessmen community for the continuous support they extended to the City Government of Tacloban. “I thank you from the bottom of my heart for all y...our support” Mayor Cristina said during her short talk.
Hundreds of them came to partake the celebration. Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce President Jack Uy thanked likewise the City for the treat. Door Prizes were given to the lucky attendees compliments of the Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce.

TACLOBAN SETS UP GARBAGE TASK FORCE CENTERS TO MONITOR GARBAGE COLLECTION IN SIX AREAS OF THE CITY
Tacloban City – Bent on maintaining a Clean, Green, Resilient City after experiencing the destruction brought by the 2013 Super Typhoon Yolanda/Haiyan, Mayor Cristina G. Romualdez created a composite team to address garbage issues in the City.
A garbage monitoring units were set up in six strategic places in the City where garbage collection is the most problematic. Places ident...ified were: Congressman Artemio Mate Ave., Real St. (in front of St. Peter), Sagkahan (near Astrodome), San Jose (near the airport), Burayan (near Algo Homes) and Abucay.
The monitoring team were tasked to educate residents the proper disposal of garbages, to warn the public of not throwing their garbages outside assigned collection hours otherwise offenders will face a penalty charges for such violation and be fined 500 bucks for each act.
The implementation of the proper garbage collection came after Mayor Cristina formed a composite team tasked to implement the Anti-littering and Solid Waste Management ordinances of LGU Tacloban.
To fully implement such ordinances, the Lady Mayor has mobilized the City Environment & Natural Resources Office (CENRO), the Solid Management and implementing partner city offices on the enforcement of the city ordinance for immediately action.
Tacloban’s 134 barangays will undergo a Solid Waste Management orientation workshop whose output is to produce a Solid Waste Management Plan with the villager’s full participation.

Tacloban City – Supportive to the 2018 Eastern Visayas Regional Athlete Association (EVRAA) Tacloban delegate’s goal, the city mother Mayor Cristina G. Romualdez joined the EVRAA opening ceremony to inspire and boost egos of her delegates at the EVRAA Opening Program Ceremony held February 4, 2018 at NWSSU-RSU Oval in Calbayog City, Western Samar.
Cristina told the Tacloban players to be just yourself, do your best and aspire to ...bring home the bacon.
According to her, the City Government of Tacloban will be right here behind you to support your undertakings.
My presence in said opening is to boost the fighting spirit of our Tacloban athletes that they give their best in said EVRAA sports competition. Cristina said in an interview. She was joined by fellow Tacloban officials. So, go go go… Tacloban! she told the Tacloban delegates.
Mayor Cristina’s physical presence inspired Tacloban delegation athletes to compete at their best in several fields with other delegates coming from other parts of the region.
She likewise wished all the delegates representing the different provinces and cities of Eastern Visayas to aspire for the championship awards. Good luck delegates!. Cristina is the recent Regional Development Council Chair in Eastern Visayas.
Tacloban has sent hundreds of athletes to compete in 24 sport categories competition together with 13 other division in Eastern Visayas.
The regional sporting event has gathered enthusiast in football, badminton, table tennis, basketball, track & field, table tennis, taekwando, gymnastics, softball, volleyball, archery, chess, swimming and many more.
EVRAA is an annual sports competition among region 8’s athletes in preparation for the national competition Palarong Pambansa. QUARRY DIST. & AFFECTED BARANGAYS RECIPIENTS OF TACLOBAN LGU RELIEF GOODS
Tacloban City – The successive heavy rainfall in the past days caused by the tail cold front has affected various barangays of Tacloban City that resulted to flooding and landslides.
Barangay 43-B Quarry District and Barangay 49- Young field were recently the recipients of the relief and hygiene kit distribution led by Mayor Cristina G. Romualdez....
Mayor Cristina personally handed over to the flood and landslide victims of said barangays food packs and hygiene kits with the assistance of the City Social Welfare & Development Office (CSWDO).
Families from said barangays got a box full of relief foods containing of canned goods, kilos of rice and hygiene kits. They likewise distributed hygiene kits to hundreds of barangay 77 villagers also affected by flooding.
Mayor Cristina and her team went the round of affected barangays of the City particularly visiting evacuation centers to oversee at the same time the condition of the evacuees.
