Mayor Karen's own Rob Gentile is teaching an intro improv class with Philly Improv Theater (PHIT) starting in just a few weeks. If you're a fan of the group who's eager to give improv a try you couldn't pick a better teacher:
We have a new warm up called, "Random Facts about Michelle Obama". I guess we're not the only ones who like random facts about Michelle Obama.
Thank you so much to everyone that nominated us for Best Improv Group and Page One for Best Short-Run Show! Now please vote for us!
There are oh-so-very-truly many ways that taking improv classes has helped us in life. We Mayors were a bunch of riff-raff and everyday hooligans before we learned improv comedy and were reformed into group-minded beings. Our anti-social neural pathways atrophying with each new scene, new neural grooves formed and our brains changed shape-- from the bankrupted, solipsistic junk-machines of this global milieu into light-bearing, yes-anding, collaborative animals. Grateful for the ongoing opportunities to navigate towards some happy, spirited thing week after week, we can tell you our distinct entry point. There's a dollar amount, but we Mayors believe that almost all, if not all interested people will look back on their enrollment as money well spent.
Come see one of our last shows at The Shubin this Saturday at 10:00! Starting in January we will be in our new home at The Adrienne.
Cheer up, it's Friday and we have a show tomorrow night with special guest Call Tokyo (NYC)!
We cannot wait to see how awesome these teams turn out! They will be directed by some of PHIT's most talented performers. Sign up for auditions NOW!
Tomorrow night, come see us debut our Fringe show Page One, featuring a one page script by Jeffrey Stanley. Buy tickets in advance:
