MCU's Juvenile Justice Task Force invites you to participate in the Missouri Supreme Court's Commission on Racial and Ethinic Fairness(CREF) listening session on Saturday, June 24, 10am -12pm. The session is designed to address abuse, neglect and juvenile offenses for Juvenile Justice Change. If you have been involved with the Juvenile Justice System, you are invited to tell your story. ALL ARE WELCOME!! (sponsored by CREF)

Great BTP meeting last night. Here's an update from the Education Task Force:
The Education Task Force continues to advocate for the end of out of school suspension for Kindergarten to Third Grade students. We currently have teams of task force members and district residents for the following school districts: St. Louis, Webster Groves, Hazelwood, Ferguson-Florissant, and St. Charles County school districts. These teams have been meeting with superintendents and police ch...iefs in these districts to demand changes in discipline policy and adoption of MOUs that are unambiguous and clearly place schools in charge of discipline. We are also reaching out to school boards. Out-reach to other districts will intensify during the summer months, in preparation for a Public Meeting in November to highlight the progress districts have made to eliminate out of school suspension and adoption of MOUs. We are collaborating with other community organizations to collect and discuss data that will inform our efforts to make discipline practices equitable for all students, and to keep them out of the pipeline.

Our work is even more important after the Hazelwood Suspensions. MOUs and Codes of Conduct matter and must be clear. Out of school suspension should become a thinkg of the past. Police interaction with students must be clearly defined. Be a part of changing the face of education....Break the School to Prison Pipeline!

KEEP KIDS IN CLASS
Parents....Students....Concerned Citizens .....
Over the last two days in Francis Howell and Hazelwood High School student rights have been violated.
At Francis Howell a student was illegal searched without probable cause and Hazelwood seniors included the student body president were suspended without due process. This is exactly why the #breakthepipelinestl exists to ensure student and parent voices are heard, and that our community organizes for change. W...e are asking affected students, parents and community to come out tonight so we can hear you and stand up with you!

#BreakThePipelineSTL is calling an emergency mobilization meeting today due to Hazelwood and Francis Howell School Districts (per Kareem Jackson) having suspend...ed students, right before graduation, the past couple days. Student rights have been violated! At Francis Howell a student was illegal searched without probable cause and Hazelwood seniors included the student body president were suspended without due process. This is exactly why the #breakthepipelinestl exists to ensure student and parent voices are heard, and that our community organizes for change. Students deserve to graduate THIS weekend!!! And These are unacceptable tactics! There will be a mobilization meeting THIS afternoon at 4:30PM at Ward Chapel AME (Next door to Christ the King). Rev. Traci Blackmon has offered her space for a ceremony for Hazelwood students if needed, but this is the responsibility of the district and we should ensure it continues to be. We are asking affected students, parents and community to come out tonight so we can hear you and stand up with you! share this status, spread the word!
