This year’s Michigan Winter Beer Festival (February 23-24) is going to be the LARGEST to date, in terms of both number of breweries (142) and total beers poured (1006+). Below is the detailed…
Winter Beerfest 2013: THE LINE.
VIP Enthusiast Entrance at Noon, and a glimpse at the line..
My first little peek into the Boston trip is one of my very favorite moments from the trip. We met with brewers from Carton Brewing Co. at Harpoon on Saturday morning for a private tour of the facility. They run public tours -every 20 minutes- on weekends, so it was an awesome opportunity to get up close and personal with the brewery via our wonderful contact, Kevin, who works sales for Harpoon Distributing. While we were having a beer in the taproom waiting to go, Kevin suddenly asks us if we have any quarters. Confused, we all check our pockets to no avail, though I managed to find one to contribute. He dismisses himself and comes back a minute later with a handful of quarters. We walk down to the main public entrance and hang a right through a staff only door, to be welcomed by THIS before we went on the tour. "Pretty cool, huh?" Kevin said. ..I found that to be a drastic understatement.

One of my favorites! Keep an eye out when it heads to market in a few weeks..

A note about what 2018 holds for Speciation:

2017 was insane! We are astounded by how much we accomplished in our first year, and 2018 is set to be even bigger. We are planning over 50 new beers, as well as a number of other changes. Incipient and Genetic Drift have been our two base beers since the beginning of Speciation. For 2018 we have de

And while we're at it, THERE'S NO SUCH THING AS A 'CHICK BEER'.

Some of the best beer minds I know are that of Women - brilliant, analytical, wonderfully palated, women.

Be a good human and give everyone a chance to show you that they know their stuff. Chances are, they do. And if they don't, that's more of a reflection on the establishment than the bartender. Notice how gender didn't play a role in that statement? It shouldn't.

For some reason, I never considered a second location for Founders Brewing Co.

They blew my mind when they announced they would be opening a second location in Detroit - a most welcome addition to the area that could, arguably, ignite the beer scene in Detroit.

Founders has opened in an area nearly absent of breweries, and, pointedly, in close vicinity to both the Little Caesars Arena and the Masonic temple - an area featuring only two bars in immediate vicinity.

Poised to make a significant impression on the area and providing craft lovers an unparalleled destination while visiting Detroit, Founders has taken a brisk and prominent foothold on the local beer scene.

May high tides raise all ships, as Detroit welcomes Founders Brewing Company to their first and only satellite facility.

Cheers, Slainte, and Prost!

More leasing complications for Michigan Breweries.. this one out of the East Side's Falling Down Beer Co in Warren, MI.

I hope this gets resolved! At least a small hiatus for Falling Down

Michigan Beer Guide

September 26 at 2:29pm ·
It seems that so often with good news comes bad. We are currently in protracted negotiations to extend ...our lease agreement and perform building improvements at our Warren location but have not yet come to an agreement with the owner. Therefore, it is with a heavy heart that we announce that we will be closing our doors October 1st, while we continue to work out an agreement. If we can come to a mutually agreeable arrangement, we hope to open the doors again within a few weeks. In consideration of our employees, we will not be opening today and are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. We will, however, be open Wednesday through Saturday, this final week of September. If you have specific questions or concerns, please feel free to message us and we will respond.
