It has been several years since I have been at Mountaineer. In the past I was always impressed with this venue. Unfortunately this last trip was very disappointing. I'm not sure what happened but, thi...s place is dirty and service stinks. We stayed overnight and had requested an additional cot, which was never delivered to the room. Luckily there was a couch in the sitting area and our additional person slept there for the night. Next one of the girls that was with us had an issue with a machine that ate her ticket. She put the service light on and waited more than 30 minutes for someone to come and rectify the situation. If it had been a busy night I could have understood the length of time it took. This happened on a Sunday morning at 11 a.m. when the casino is pretty empty. Overall I was not impressed by anything about this place. I will take my money and spend it somewhere that offers great service in a clean updated facility. See More

I'm a little disappointed, overall. I haven't been here for awhile, and I was surprised by the changes. They don't seem to have anywhere near the amount of slots they use to have. From the main floor,... you use to go up a few steps and cross to another room that was filled with slots, but now it's just machines around the edges with a huge floor space empty in the middle. Off to the left of the main doors, there also use to be another big room with slots, but that is now a convention center. I ate at Big Al's, and it was fine, plus I had dinner at the Gatsby, and it was very good, but I had really planned on the buffet, only to find out it's now closed except on weekends. When I was planning my trip, nothing I saw online mentioned that. I stayed in a King room in the tower, and my room was lovely.....but...I came for 2 nights, because I wanted to be able to sleep in 1 day without any interruptions, something that is impossible at home, and also not have to worry about checkout at 11:00. Right about 10 AM, I was blasted out of sleep by the smoke alarms going off scaring the crap out of me, and pretty much insuring that I wouldn't be able to get back to sleep again. Later, I asked at the desk what it was. I was a little upset, because this was the first time in a year, and most likely the last time for another year, that I had a chance to sleep in, which I told them, and they told me someone was welding/fixing an ice machine, and the smoke set it off. They knew I was upset, but to them, it was no big deal, and apparently funny. I don't agree. And this was a room I was paying for, not comped. I haven't been here for about 4 years and after this it may be another 4 years. See More

Absolutely disappointing, we didn't come to gamble, this was just a night away for me and my husband. I booked online so I assumed lodge was the only option as that's all it showed me, the room is in... crappy condition, paint missing on every wall, miscellaneous splatter on the one wall, a lamp with a giant dent, a ripped lamp shade, dirty tub and the shower head had the worst water pressure. Then our room was next to the ice n vending machines and apparently the towel supply area for house keeping so we got to hear walkie talkies and carts most of the evening. Also we were right next to an exit so even with curtains closed it was lit up like dawn in our room. And to top it all off all we wanted to do was sleep but apparently the sheetz didn't fit the bed n u couldn't even sit without them popping off, made for a very uncomfortable night. So when we checkout I figured someone would ask how our stay was, nope, too busy in there conversation and just wanted to take our money. On a positive note the spa is pretty nice. See More

My wife and I go on our anniversary every year and stay over night. I was reading reviews about how perks are being slashed and I too was confused, but after reading the explanations, my questions wer...e answered. We try to come a few more times besides our anniversary. Win or lose we enjoy ourselves every time. We've never had any issues(knock on wood) with the staff room or otherwise. The service is great at 1pm when we get there until 3-4am when we head to bed. We love coming there, and will be back again. As a matter of fact our anniversary is this Thursday and our yearly tradition will continue. Hopefully luck is on our side, but regardless we are going to have a blast! See you in a few days!!! I haven't been to Mountaineer in over 2 years. I went with a friend for her first time. First thing I noticed was all the changes to the casino. The room upstairs is pretty empty of machines. The room... downstairs that had older slots is gone. If you need a players card, cash your winnings or cash a lottery ticket it's all the same line, a long line. I will say that the sandwich my friend and I got at Big Als was really good. Had no luck at all in winning which is always disappointing . Just was not an experience that I had hoped for. See More

The Casino, Pool & Restaurant was 4 out of 5 stars. The Room on the other hand was NEGATIVE 5 Stars! The Room was Very Outdated & Filthy!!! We had to Wipe down the Dresser, Desk, Sink, Rinse out th...e Tub and make the Bed because the sheets underneath weren't on the bed covering the mattress. The draft through the back door was so bad we had to stack the decorative blankets along the back door and it was blowing them up like a balloon. We had to run the heat on 80 to keep the room warm.

Unfortunately they were booked up so we couldn't be moved to another room and it was to late to shop around for another hotel. Very disappointed and won't stay there again, total waste of money...

I have stayed at nicer Motel 6's for a 3rd of the price.

The only reason I gave it 2 stars was for the dealers and wonderful people I met! The hotel experience was absolutely horrible! My room was freezing and I waited 3 hours to get a new heating unit that... still didn’t work. I moved d myself over to the towers (which is not smoker friendly). The service at the Gatsby restaurant was horrible. The waiters had to be flagged down in order to receive service. When I went to complain to VIP services they were late opening up and didn’t help at all. After, sabotaging what was supposed to be a peaceful birthday weekend. I’m strongly considering crossing Mountaineer off my list of casinos to frequent . It’s just not as fun and organized as it was before they began making smokers feel like their in prison. And the waitresses became slower in service. Everything opens up late or you can’t find anyone to help you in need. Then all they can do is comp you Food. Why would I want to go back to a place that treated me like crap ???? Keep your food and lose a loyal customer of 6 years...... See More

It was the restaurant in the front. We was told that it was no seat inside, so we said in the lobby of the restaurant. A couple walk up and went in. My husband said they said it was no tables , so I g...o in and all I seen was available table. They sat us inside, if it wasn’t for us being hungry I would have left. I didn’t enjoy the food, they’re never get my business again. See More

Well have been to the Friday night buffet 5 times. It's good food. Why we keep coming back. Hubby and I Have paid full 26.99 price twice and then I got a club card to get the discount for future visit...s and also I like to gamble occasionally. The next 2 visits the discount of 21.99 was applied to both our buffets which we loved. We went there again tonight and brought my son who is from Canada. And the cashier takes my card and says this is only for one buffet discount just so you know. I said well the previous 2 times we have received the discount for both so I assumed that is how it is all the time. She says no..only one. I said well why then the previous 2 times was it for all buffets on the bill. She says I don't know..always been that way. Only one discount. Your not a special member. So suffice to say .. we won't be coming there anymore. And if we do I won't be spending 26.99 on a buffet. The cashier showed no customer service skills at all. Just stone faced told me "no". Twice. Anyways..I left thinking that this is our last time spending that much to be treated that way when paying. I know for myself it's not worth it. My first choice to eat somewhere will not be there. As far as the casino and dealers, the get 5 stars from us! However, the hotel is the polar opposite. We paid $200 for a room Saturday night after being told I had a special on my card of $139. After w...alking 1/2 mile to our lodge area We were sent on a wild goose chase to find our room. The hallways and stairwells were not numbered with directions very well. And the directions the front desk girl, who was less than pleasant, gave us weren't even close. She was annoyed we were checking in at 4am apparently. After walking back and forth and up and down stairwells, we finally found our room at 4:40am. It was very dated, and the sheets weren't entirely on the bed. So I got to make the bed before we could go to sleep. At 8am sharp we heard screaming and laughing in the hallway. After 10 minutes we went out to ask the people who we thought were drunk girls to keep it down. Turns out it was housekeeping. they quieted down for 10 minutes until my husband left the room to go to the front desk. Then they were back at it. So basically we paid $200 for 3 hours of sleep. I packed up and left the room. We requested to speak to a manager at the front desk. After waiting 20 minutes to speak to them, they had us fill out a complaint form and did absolutley nothing!!! It completley ruined our trip. On top of that, they never refunded out $20 "deposit" they said would be refunded upon checkout. Not sure we will ever visit Mountaineer again unless someone makes this horrible experience right. My advise, stay at a nearby hotel instead. If we had, we would have had a 100% better trip! See More

Im so upset! I have been coming for years but after last night im done!! I dropped a 70.00 ticket (reported it immediately) and waited and waited for security to tell me yes we verified on camera you ...did drop it someone did pick it up we have their players card info but unfortunately the person left so there's nothing we can do for you!....Like are you serious??? Im a weekly visitor spend lots of money with you guys and you cant offer no compensation? Like I even said you can give it to me as freeplay "No sorry we cant". And the guy that took my ticket will come back and play using his players card that we all know you can track but he wont be talked to or NOTHING he can still come there! You lost a loyal local customer! And no its not Mountaineers fault I dropped my ticket but what do you have cameras for and its just sad your customers dont mean nothing to you that you cant even offer freeplay to replace it NOTHING! If I drop my sandwich at a restaurant they are going to make me a new one....I dont know I just cant believe the way I was treated! See More

We love to stay in the tower. If there isn't a room available in the tower, we don't go. The lodge is an absolute disgusting shit hole. We have had mold under peeling wall coverings, dead worms on the... bathroom floor, and smelly stained carpet. Why don't they tear it down already? We like to eat big salads at the Mahogany bar. I have never won more than $100 in slots and I have been going for 15 years. It's still fun though, and we get a free room and meal because we spend alot of money in the slot machines. See More

I have been going to Mountaineer for many yrs now. Place has changed hands many times!! Some of the things I love, others not! The food is good. The tower is great. Lodge stinks! Upstairs, Luckys is when you have good bands there, like Goldy Locks!! But the upstairs is too empty!!!! DO SOMETHING!! Put more tables and chairs! I think people will stay up there if there was a place to sit. Smoking area is big, but some of those machines in the middle aren’t any fun!! Sorta cold in there too.
Goldy Locks!! Get them more often!!!!!!!

I love to play Keno and only Mountaineer and Wheeling have the pick and play machines. I would love to actually come home a winner for once! It's not fun anymore when you don't even get bonus games. ...They just suck your money down! See More
