Parking could be more adequate. Spaces are awkward. Came to an event recently and someone caused 1,100 dollar worth of damage to my brand new car.

I like going with my kids. It is a very nice building near the waterfront and although the museum isn't huge it does have a lot of nice items and history you can look at but doesn't take all day. Ev...ery time I've gone there the staff throughout the museum and in the gift shop have been very friendly and outgoing and are always there to answer any questions you may have. Take a little time to visit and you'll be glad you did. See More

MOA is a wonderful and an important asset to our community. Many do not realize all they do for the children and the community. There are so many interesting and fun programs they create for the chi...ldren's entertainment, while at the same time always taking the opportunity to enhance the children's knowledge and creativity. The staff is very good at what they do and always have our children's best interests at heart. Let us all stand behind the MOA and show our support!! Great Job MOA!! See More

Beautiful museum that captures the history of the Eastern region of North Carolina. I really enjoyed the Tea exhibit and all of the different China that was on display.
The whole museum is top-notch! ...I highly recommend this location to anyone who is interested in discovering the past and the present also in regards to our amazing coastal communities. See More

The Museum of the Albemarle is well worth the trip. The exhibits are educational and informative...with or without a guide. While the focus is on 13 counties in eastern North Carolina, don't let thi...s keep you from visiting. There are rotating exhibits and other activities beyond this main focus. What I liked best is that you can take your time and walk through on your own...and with the information provided at each can learn as much or as little as you choose to learn. There is something for all ages. The exhibits are well spaced so that you don't feel you are crowding other visitors to the museuem. The building is spacious and very well kept...and staff is super nice and knowledgeable. Don't worry about parking...there is sufficient parking...just follow the signs. After your visit inside the museum, if you want to take a stroll on the beautiful Elizabeth City waterfront, you are in luck. The museum is located just across the street from the Waterfront Park. Overrated. Not exactly what a museum should be. They need more artworks more traveling displays. The museum is too big for a small town like ELIZABETH CITY N.C.

We went originally because state testing for students was going on and that was one of the testing sites. After testing I took my son around the museum and he enjoyed it and so do I.
