Smoke detectors save lives! I had a chance to witness these work this weekend, and they are pretty impressive. They are designed so that a person installs one on each floor or area of their residence. They are connected to each other through a wireless network almost like Bluetooth. When one goes off they all do, and they transmit through the detector which alarm was tripped. A fire doubles in size every minute and a basement alarm could go unheard if you are in bed sleeping on the second floor. These are giving residents earlier detection to a potential fire or carbon monoxide emergency. Check them out!
