Join us for free samples of some delicious Celtic treats. On Saturday March 3, Kristen and Dean Scott, the chefs behind Artisan Candies and The Celtic Tea Shoppe in San Jose will be here from approximately 2 until 4 PM offering many of their specialties including Soda Breads, Whiskey Cakes, Orange Marmalade, Fudge, Sausage Rolls, Pasties, and more.
Also, we're sorry but the Easter Candy Imports did not ship last Friday so are now expected in our store the middle of next week - which means next Saturday afternoon could be the perfect time to pick up your Easter goodies too.
Great local bread is back. Beginning today we will now be receiving fresh baked bread from Backhaus Bakery on Thursdays and Saturdays - with the intention to add more days and more of their yummy baked goods (pastries, German pretzels, etc.) over the coming weeks and months.
We're excited to announce a new local vendor: Artisan Candies of San Jose is making a wide variety of wonderful Celtic Favorites. Their Sausage Rolls, Bridies, and Pasties are scrumptous. They cost a bit more than others we've carried but they're so so so much better! We also now carry their delicious Soda Breads, Whiskey Cakes, Marmalade, and Fudge ... with more treats coming very soon.
This morning we received a nice variety of beautiful Organic Produce including Heirloom Tomatoes, Cheddar (Orange) Cauliflower, Red Butter Lettuce, Fuji Apples, Red Bell Peppers and (Pink Flesh) Cara Cara Oranges
We received an import shipment from a new distributor today including Glen Ri Brand Bangers, Back Bacon & Sausage Rolls, Brown Bread from Pat the Baker, Curried Beans, Coleman's Shepherds Pie and Lamb Pot, and Barry's Decaffeinated Tea. Unfortunately they too were out of regular Taytos Cheese & Onion, Salt & Vinegar, and Kings but did include a good assortment of other chips.
It was great while it lasted but - we are very sorry to report that Pain Bakery has discontinued operations. Davey is in discussion with a potential investor about a new venture - but at this point
we do not know when or if we will be getting his wonderful bread again.
We wish him the best of luck!
We were out of almost everything due to Christmas, but now imported sausages, bacon, black and white puddings etc. arrived in today's shipment and are back in stock! (as well as the usual assortments of Cadbury and other snacks)
Organic Pasture Raised Eggs in today (for the first time in a long time.) These are the premium (and increasingly rare eggs) from chickens grazing freely at pasture. Cage Free and Free Range birds rarely (if ever) see the outdoors. The difference in flavor and quality as a cooking ingredient is HUGE!!!
Just in time! Imported sausages, bacon, black and white puddings etc. arrived today with our full import shipment. Boiling bacon tomorrow (Hopefilly!!). And currently we still have a good supply of Christmas candy, cookies, etc.
Also received local Organic Produce today including some gorgeous Local Red Butter Lettuce, Rainbow Variety of Fingerling Potatoes, Baby Heirloom Carrots, and Roma Tomatoes.
What a huge difference when the seafood is fresh caught! We received our first delivery from RealGoodFish yesterday; Rockfish - Firm, white, sweet, flaky (see pic), and absolutely delicious. We did a simple preparation; lightly breaded and sauteed in butter with sliced Granny Smith apples and a squeeze of fresh lemon. If you're interested in their weekly deliveries, sign up at realgoodfish.com and select SF-OakGrove as your drop spot.
