My family pulled up to Old Friends yesterday, it was cold, snowing and the place looked deserted. We decided to brave the cold and see if anyone was around. One of the very wonderful workers (I’m sorr...y I cannot remember your name) greeted us and, despite the cold, snow and wind, took us around to meet the wonderful animals you take care of. It was fantastic. Everyone we encountered was so friendly, knowledgeable, and informative. Visiting Old Friends was the highlight of our trip. Thank you for your hospitality and thank you for what you do. We will definitely be back to visit again soon! See More

So pleased that you can use the ...carrots and mints. Can't wait to return. Seriously considering how I can volunteer. Thank you for all you do at OF@CC!!! See More

The volunteers that run this place are angels that dedicate their time, love and energy to helping an incredible group of retired race horses live out their days peacefully. Definitely recommend by for a tour on Saturdays and making a donation. See More

Old Friends is a wonderful non- profit agency that rescues horses that would otherwise be euthanized by our neighboring countries. This practice is thankfully banned in the USA. Let's hope that this p...ractice of killing off these beautiful animals when they no longer make a profit for their owners comes to an end. Please keep Old Friends in your thoughts and prayers when you want to contribute to a very worthy cause! Thank you!!! See More

Amazing time. Everyone was so nice! We got there a little after 2:30 and even though it was close to when they closed we had an amazing tour. The people there are really amazing people with such great... hearts. The horses are just as incredible too. The three hour drive was well worth it! Everyone should check it out! See More

We love going to see the horses and feeding them mints. We go every year, usually twice. Everyone is amazing there, especially JoAnn. She is just an amazing person to be running a place for retired horses.

Fun Fashion From The Farm
We have a special feature in this issue of our newsletter for all you fashionistas out
there. We wanted to share a few photos with you of the high fashion worn during the winter by our faithful volunteers. Brutal cold, relentless snow and ice has given everyone poetic license to create stunning, one of a kind, haute couture ensembles....perfect for amusing our horses and the other volunteers.

Our volunteer, Joyce Anderson, has a definite flair for f...ashion. Photos taken by Connie Bush show Ms. Anderson wearing the latest in hobo fatigue patch overalls. The color is a very versatile butterscotch toffee canvas with complimenting patches. Topping her hobo fatigue overalls is an arctic hooded tunic in dark chocolate. You will see more of this stunning ensemble on the runways of Milan and Paris in the future.

For warmth, Joyce is wearing an ebony faux fur Elmer Fudd trapper hat. Paired with the hat is a removable face and neck gator. This accessory adds a little touch of mystery and intrigue to the ensemble. The horses just love trying to guess who is bringing them hay and grain.

Footwear is very important at the farm. Our model is wearing 60 below zero, all terrain muck boots in a bold deep charcoal. To accent the boots she has accessorized with industrial themed yak tracks. A sure bet for navigating icy paddocks.

Pictured with Joyce is volunteer, Dan Milliman. Dan's striking apparel brings together all the key elements in men's outdoor winter wear. Dan combines a strong foundation of warmth, practicality and that bad boy look all the horses envy. His carefree style and attitude of "je ne sais quoi" is respected and admired by all. Dan clearly is not afraid to blend various patterns, fabrics, colors and textures. Everything Dan wears is an "in your face" comment to Mother Nature which defiantly says, "Bring it on, we're ready for you!!!"

Both unique outfits are embellished with a mallet ice smasher, shovel, wheelbarrow and slightly bent muck fork. Eat your hearts out Donna Karan, Diane Von Furstenberg and Michael Kors!
