Stopped in to see the renovation and to make a purchase. The young lady at the counter was not welcoming by any means. The way she looked at me and said is there something you need. I said I wanted to... look for a moment. I did take a fast look and made a purchase. Well the candy I purchased had a taste to it almost like it was made and put into a damp basement. There was a musty taste to it. I shared it with two other people, without saying a word and the response was the same. So my first trip in many years is my last trip. Not very welcoming at all. We had an ice cream social at Parkside Candy for my daughter’s birthday. It’s such a beautiful, charming & whimsical place! The service was excellent. Sharon & her staff were so accommodating, friendl...y, and patient with our large group of small children!
Highly recommended :)
Thank you all!!

Horrible company. I applied there and their operations manager refuses to hire, or even consider hiring men. Their chocolate is well under average at best. Its a fact, their owner phil has employees d...oing orders for them. They are paid minimum wages and are expected to do the work of a 50,000 a year operations manager. Dont trust my opinions if you choose. But the qualities in plain sight. Ive been to mckinley, and eastern hills and the main st store. I grew up at platters practically. I know what quality tastes and looks like. Remelting product is fine(when done correctly). The white spots are consistent with incorrect tempering. I know from experience. My grandfather worked at platters. White spots on product means that they did NOT add fresh product to the remelt and basically boiled the moisture out. I advised the representative at eastern hills about white spots. She pulled it, and of course i had my doubts, so i went back 15 minutes later,.... Low and behold, the product was back on the shelf. I inquired with her about it, and it comes from "management to not send back, or pull anything without their approval. I called corporate and left messages for Phil the owner. Also with ann marie to no avail. They avoid customers like the plague and arent concerned with product quality nor safety. See More

Parkside Candy has always been a favorite of my family. I am so glad the renovation did not take away the old time soda shop charm.

I truly wish I had a good review but I don't. I left furious. First we weren't greeted very nicely the woman that greeted us gave the impression she didn't want us there. Just to clarify there are people in the store at the time. One older woman one younger woman and a young man. It was very clear to me on first impression of the younger woman is not a people person why she works there in the first place I have no idea. The older woman and younger man however we're great. The younger man went above and beyond to make my children happy and enjoy their visit. I would give five stars to him. However both the older and younger woman got our order completely wrong. We ended up waiting additional 20 minutes thinking we were receiving the rest of our order just to find out they never made it. On top of all of this my daughter asked to use the bathroom. If you've ever been to Parkside you know that there are two doors with the glass mirrors on that one leads to the bathroom the other does not. Neither door has a sign which they definitely should. My daughter went into the wrong door which anyone would have made that mistake seeing how the doors are not marked. The younger girl then proceeds to grab my daughter and push her out of the door. My daughter is nine years old and that woman had no business putting her hands on my child. If I would've put my hands on your staff you guys would've called the police on me. It would never be appropriate for me to do that and certainly not push your staff. How dare you then turn around and put your hands on my nine-year-old. A simple oh no you went through the wrong door would have been just fine. Due to the fact that I had all my children there I decided to be an adult and not make a scene in front of my children. It took everything in me to do that. Your worker owes my daughter an apology! See More

The outside doesn't look like much, but once inside you take a step back in time. Awesome architecture worthy of photos. The mix of the old world and my kids made for a great setting.

The staff was ...very helpful and the selection was awesome. I am from the Midwest, so Sponge Candy was on the list. I have yet to find a bad piece in the bag. See More

Great food and ice cream! A bus load of people interrupted our lunch and we were ignored for a while. But we were treated to extra ice cream for our long wait. The chocolate is all made there and is ...outstanding! See More
