In the early morning of December 28, 2017 Patton Fire Company # 1 and Big Run Area Vol Fire Co. fire departments responded to a mutual aid call in Burnside, PA.... The temperature was well below zero and the engine they put into the creek to source water froze up when they disconnected a line to get other equipment in. They started calling in tankers but they were freezing up after only dumping one load. With the cold freezing everything the firefighters turned to Big Run’s CAFS. Big Run flowed 7100 gallons of water and 20 gallons of foam out from their tower through a 1 ¾ inch handline. Thanks to the CAFS the fire was quickly put out.

Another update on Doc:
Spent the day with Mom and Dad. Every time we see him he looks better, has more color, and is a little stronger. He gets up into the chair and takes walks through the halls ( he has been doing this for a few days now). The doctors are very happy with his progress. Mom is there daily she looks a little better each time we see her too we all know he couldn’t do it without her by his side.
Thank you all for your continued prayers and support! Happy New Year!!
From Doc's daughter :
For those of you who don’t believe in Christmas miracles I am here to tell you they do happen! Yesterday we received a call that our prayers have been answered and there was a liver available for our Dad. WOW what an amazing call to receive words can’t describe. It’s been a long journey but with much faith and the support and prayers of our family and friends we sit here with him after surgery. He is doing very well. Mom is doing great too as you a...ll know she has been his rock and will continue to be.
We pray for the donor’s family who has lost their loved one and saved our’s. I hope they find peace in knowing that their loved one gave a very special man another chance at life.
From the bottom of our hearts we can’t thank you all enough for your prayers and support. We are truly blessed to be surrounded by such amazing people. Please keep the prayers coming. We truly appreciate it. We are truly blessed❤️.
Thoughts and Prayers are greatly appreciated at this time for the Noel family as William “Doc” Noel goes into surgery to receive his new liver! Hoping for a strong, healthy, and speedy recovery from everyone of the Patton Fire Company.
Around 10:30 last night Mahaffey along with 13 other fire departments we dispatched to a structure fire on Burnside/McGee Highway. Upon arrival we were faced wi...th a working structure fire. The crews that arrived first on scene made an aggressive attack and was able to keep flames moving to the back of the structure, however heat and smoke damaged all that wasn’t touched by the fire. The fire was a complete loss. Our prayers go out to the family. The fire is being investigated by Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshall however does not appear to be suspicious. The fire box was place available shortly after 2am this morning and everything was replaced and ready to go by 3:30am! We would like to thank Hope,Big Run, Glen Campbell, Cherry Tree, Patton, Grampian, Burnside, Brady Township, Houtzdale, Curwensville Rescue Hose & Ladder, Hyde, Westover, and Sykesville Fire Departments. As well as Mahaffey Ambulance, Salvation Army, Red Cross, PennDOT, Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshall, United Electric, and Bell Township for also assīsting on scene. Thanks for a great job from everyone!
