On Monday nights, the Varsity Bar holds their quiz night and the quiz master agreed to hold an American-themed trivia night on Monday April 7. Teams are limited to 8 so we'll probably form a few teams. 1st place gets a $50 restaurant voucher and 2nd place gets a $20 restaurant voucher. Free entry.
Perth Expat Americans: due to receiving millions of Irish immigrants in the 1800s, St. Patrick's day is appropriately celebrated by Americans, which we will do this Sunday March 16 at the Varsity Bar (the only American bar in Perth). Doors open in the morning and Open Mic night starts at 3pm. I propose our group get there around 6pm. The Varsity Bar will have $6 Pints of Guinness, $12 Jugs of Swan Draught, and lots of Craic!
Note: the vast majority of the people who attend our recent events are in their 20s and 30s. Please plan accordingly if you don't want to feel left out.
The American community is seeing a Perth Heat baseball game on Sat Jan 25 in VIP style. Meet at the Varsity Bar at 5:30pm for predrinks before the bus leaves at 6:15pm. You can purchase your ticket here: http://sa2.seatadvisor.com/sabo/servlets/TicketRequest…

Awesome Expats and friends: The Varsity Bar continues to be a true friend to our community. They graciously hosted our huge 4th of July Party, a Texas A&M event, and a U of Texas event. They have now offered to host Thanksgiving for us on Thursday November 28. Don't worry about cooking this year, the chefs have our turkey and cranberry needs covered. Just come down, enjoy a selection of American beers and the company of fellow yanks who also find themselves on the far side of the world. Sign up on our meetup.com page
Awesome expats: our biggest party of the year will be our 2nd annual Halloween Party on Saturday Oct 26 in Scarborough. Our Halloween party last year was our largest event yet: couples were created and even a baby is being born b/c of it. No one under 18 (legal drinking age in Australia) will be permitted. Register for the party at our meetup.com page (clink link below)
My awesome expats - there are 2 events tonight at the Varsity Bar in Crawley: 1) U of Texas alumni event at 6pm (wear something Texan, join our group, and have $8 vodka redbull specials for just our group). 2) a public beer pong party starting at 730 which will include $13 jugs (pitchers) of swan draught beer and $5 sloppy joes. See ya there!
Hey my awesome countrymen and women. Here is the latest: The owner of the Varsity Bar wrote me today and confirmed that on the 4th of July there will be specials on chili cheese fries, hot dogs, chili cheese dogs, and corn on a stick. Every American can sign the number plate from their state as well. The Varsity Bar will provide a few American flags and blue, white, red ribbons on walls and poles, a few balloons but they requested we bring more flags and decorations. If you can, please show up slightly before 6:30pm and assist with the decorations.
My awesome expats: I met the owner of the Varsity Bar tonight about our party on July 4th and selected the patio section designated for us. Additionally, I convinced him to use more buffalo sauce on their wings and he took onboard our suggestions to add Tex-Mex (nachos and quesadillas) to the menu. He will allow us to control the music on July 4, so if someone DJs or wants to bring in a playlist on a flash drive, cool. He will decorate the bar in red, white, and blue, and provide red, white, and blue jello shots, but he asks we bring more decorations: I donated 3 American flags today. The owner is genuinely interested in making us feel at home; I'm so glad we have a new base in Perth.
As we know every life has an impact on this world ... Earlier this week on Sunday we lost a good friend and founding member of the Expat Americanos. Jeremy Ebner has managed to touch all of our lives in many ways and will be sincerely missed. Our hearts are with the family and especially his loving fiancé Diana through this difficult time.
We wish Diana and her family peace and healing. Jeremy's memory will always remain with us.
The American community will enthusiastically spend the 4th of July this year at the Varsity Bar in Nedlands. Opening earlier this year, the Varsity Bar is the first and only truly American bar in Perth. They nailed the college sports bar scene and drinks are served in red cups. They serve such American foods as Sloppy Joes, Buffalo Wings, and Philly Cheese Steak. Go to our meetup.com page to register.
