Hey folks, go like this if you can. Help us show support for Angel.

Yesterday, I had the unfortunate obligation of calling an emergency meeting to share with those of my Phi Theta Kappa family in attendance the unforeseen sad ne...ws that I am going to share with everyone today:
Yesterday, with tears in my eyes, I had to announce to my officers that I could no longer be their president or even a fellow Phi Theta Kappan. Base on a bylaw that seems to have been in hte books since 2007 (and in the fine print, deep at the bottom of our application), I am ineligible to have ever become a Phi Theta Kappa member because of the ten years of probation that I am serving due to my past. Headquarters ordered that my membership be deleted, that I turn in everything that I've ever earned in Phi Theta Kappa, and that I not represent that I am a member of this organization. In obedience to this directive, I surrendered all my achievements to my officers who I know will honor the sacrifices I've made. Many of you know my story of having gone to prison when I was a teenager, of getting out after 12 years and going to college from a homeless shelter and become 4.0 student and leader in my campus and community. This bylaw must change! Community Colleges are the places of second and third chances, and Phi Theta Kappa is the organization charged with the mission of highlighting the potential and achievements of those second chance students. A person who gets out of prison on probation (and doesn't go back), but instead goes to college and becomes an honor student and a leader in his or her campus is the person we want in Phi Theta Kappa as an example and role model for others.
I am asking everyone: if I have ever impacted your Phi Theta Kappa experience in any way, if inspired you in any fashion, please send me note expressing these feelings--this will mean the world to me and it will allow me to show headquarters that I am more than just a name and number, I am a family member. My email is asanchez86@valenciacollege.edu I am looking to your letters--we are going to change this; we are going to make a difference!

@My fellow admins. I added Richard Nelson as a content creator so he can add photos from the Florida Regional Honors Institute. This is not an administrator account, he often serves as our chapter's official photographer. Thanks, Jonathan Fay, President of Delta Omicron.
