Happy Friday, friends! We have a couple of "housekeeping" issues we'd like to pass along to you that we hope are helpful:
1. Pickens County does not call citizens about jury duty. There is a phone scam going around that informs the caller that they missed jury duty and will need to pay money via Green Dot cards to prevent them from going to jail. THIS IS A SCAM. Pickens County does not request money, or take any type of payments over the phone. Please, never give money or per...sonal information over the phone when you're not 100% certain that the situation is legitimate.
2. We love when you guys send us crime tips over FB messages. You are our eyes and ears in places that we can't be 100% of the time. That being said, we cannot take calls for service through Facebook Messages. Our page is not monitored 24/7, and we want you to be able to get the assistance you need. If you have an emergency, as always, call 911. If you want to report suspicious activity, traffic complaints and other situations that would require a deputy to patrol the area and/or meet with you please call 864-898-5500.
