#volunteers #weneedyou We need your help! It’s time to get involved with PHCA! Is one of your New Year’s resolution to become more involved with the community or do some community service? PHCA is a not-for-profit, volunteer-based organization. The hard work and dedication of our neighbors are what “make things happen” around here. Making sure that zoning matters are addressed, maintaining Gotham Way Park, cleaning up the BeltLine, keeping you informed via social media and newsletter, organizing and hosting fun events, etc.—all these activities and many more are done by volunteers. As such, we are looking for people that love living in Piedmont Heights and want to get more engaged in improving our neighborhood. There are many ways to get involved—by becoming a board member, a committee member, or a one-time volunteer for special projects. If you’re interested in learning more about any of these roles, please contact Piedmont Heights Civic Association Piedmont Heights Business Alliance Piedmont Heights Community Improvement Foundation Piedmont Heights Parent Association. #phcif #phpa #phba #phpa #phca

Atlanta City Councilmembers attended a press conference this afternoon where Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms announced that the City of Atlanta and the Atlanta BeltL...ine have concluded the purchase of land needed to close the loop on the BeltLine's Southside trail.

The 4.5 mile stretch of land spans the districts of Atlanta City Council Member Carla Smith, Atlanta City Councilmember Joyce M. Sheperd and Natalyn Mosby Archibong. It will connect the Westside Trail at University Avenue to the Eastside Trail at Glenwood Avenue, joining five schools, 18 neighborhoods and three parks.

Also joining Mayor Bottoms was Brian McGowan, BeltLine
president and CEO, and Craig Camuso, CSX Transportation’s regional vice president of state government affairs.
CSX has long owned the corridor in question and put it out of service for trains several years ago.

The Atlanta BeltLine is the most comprehensive revitalization effort ever undertaken in the City of Atlanta and among the largest, most wide-ranging urban redevelopment and mobility projects currently underway in the United States. This sustainable project is providing a network of public parks, multi-use trails and housing.
