I absolutely ❤️ and adore you guys!!! I think it's awesome what you do and how you do it!! I've seen you out at a couple tattoo conventions and was able to talk... with a couple of the ladies there, but I just wanted to post and let you all know that I adore you guys and everything you do for this amazing breed!!!! I honestly don't know what I would've done without my pittie in my life!!! I've had her since she was 15 days old, as there were circumstances that made it so she wasn't able to stay with her mom and litter, and I was terrified bringing her home so young bc not only was she the first pit bull I've ever owned, but she was also the first puppy I'd ever gotten...so I had 0 experience and was scared out of my mind!! Luckily I have an amazing vet and tons of great friends who were able to help me figure things out in the beginning until I got the hang of things!! Not too long after I had gotten her my dad was diagnosed with esophageal cancer, and we were told most people will only survive about 2 years with that diagnoses based on the location etc....well after treatments and meds he eventually went into remission for a full year but when it came back, it came back with a vengeance and had spread throughout his entire body!! Him and Honey Girl were inseparable and bc he was no longer working, I ended up letting her stay at my parents house because he loved her so much (after my parents had originally told me I couldn't have a pit in their house) so Honey Girl started living with them and her and my dad were attached at the hip not a day went by where he wouldn't call me a million times with some cute funny little story of something she did, he ended up living for 7 years after his initial diagnoses (which is much more than the 2 we were originally told) and Honey Girl was right there by his side, or under his blankets with him, until the moment he passed away!! My family and I are completely 100% positive that it was Honey Girl that kept him going for as long as he did!! Now whenever my 99 year old grandmother comes to visit us, Honey Girl will wait outside her bedroom and the bathroom for her to make sure she's ok, and when she goes downstairs or upstairs, Honey Girl will walk a few steps ahead and then turn around to make sure she's ok before she keeps going!! Originally my grandmother wouldn't come to the house if Honey Girl was there at all, but now if she's not there when grandma visits she says she misses her!! If only more people were willing to give this incredible breed a chance to prove that they aren't the monsters so many people try to make them out to be, more people would start to see how truly amazing they really are!!! Anyways, thank you for all your amazing hard work!!! See More

Ordered one of the 'take my leash, not my life' hoodies and love it. I'm always getting questions about it so I emailed just asking about the organization so I'...d have an idea of what to tell people. The girl who replied was so sweet and gave me lots of information. Such a great organization, I was happy to buy from a cause that I and many others are passionate about :) See More

I've been a pit lover for a long time. There the only ones I know of that still keep the 'baby face' even when they get older. I hope to get two puppies of my own soon to show off to this site and many others. :) Pinups for Pitbulls shows every smile these pretties have. I love it!!

Shelter hours 8:30 am to 5 pm Monday to Friday
Shelter phone: (803) 286-8103
The shelter is located at 118 Kennel Lane Lancaster, SC

*You can rescue if you are out of state - Volunteers will transport to a local boarding kennel with reduced boarding rates for rescues & the boarding kennel can coordinate vetting and will help with getting the dogs to their transport

*Lancaster dogs are always at risk to be euthanized for space due to the small size, 24 runs, of the shelter. The shelter director is compassionate and is very rescue-friendly. This shelter is begging for rescue help. Many runs are doubled up which means the cages have dividers now separating the runs inside space and outside space to accommodate more dogs. The dogs that are being kept outside cannot stay in these outside kennels once the temperatures drop down.

This is a courtesy post for Tony the Tiger, an EXTREMELY URGENT dog at the Manhattan NYC shelter. He is on the euth list for tomorrow and can be PTS at any time... after 12PM. If you can help him.please contact mustlovedogsNYC@gmail.com IMMEDIATELY for guidance and assistance. Thank you.

Found tied to a tree in upper Manhattan, wagging his tail furiously at passersby…..Tony the Tiger..."he's GGRREAT!"

He’s stunning, gorgeous, and barely 12 months old. Tony was found tied to a tree when a kind person came by with their dog, untied him and off they went, a happy trio. He was absolutely wonderful with that person, a wiggley tail wagging doll on intake, and he has been a Doggy Playgroup Star at the shelter. There is no one that Tony does NOT like. He’s super social, friendly and simply adorable. Yes, he’s a baby, and he needs training so he realizes a leash is not a pull toy, but with a quiet structured home with the training all puppies require to teach them how to direct their energy, he’d be even more perfect than he already is, but don’t take our word for it, see what his favorite volunteer had to say, “Who strolls the concrete jungle with just the right amount of swag and thinks making new friends is the greatest thing since chew bones were invented? Tony the tiger, that’s who! Wearing the most beautiful coat I’ve ever seen and a solemn face to hide his mischievous spirit, this super friendly boy looks like a million bucks and acts like a big ol’ clown and plenty of heads turn to admire him as we strut through the park. We stop for a photo shoot and he accepts treats like a full grown gentleman, but with so much energy to burn, he sometimes forgets that leashes aren’t toys and people aren’t meant for climbing! Tony is young and he’s still got a few rough edges to polish, but he’s smart and ready to learn, and if his current house training skills and ‘sit’ are anything to go by, this happy-go lucky guy will be mastering additional tricks in no time flat. Like any tiger, he loves to explore, but his true calling lies in snuggling, socializing with both two and four-legged friends and finding innovative ways to make everyday life as fun as possible. Tony’s already got the title of World’s Handsomest Pet under his belt and now he’s looking to conquer new challenges with an active, dog savvy family by his side. Potential is his middle name and with your help, Tony P. Tiger is going to be a star!” Don’t let the ACC take this perfect puppy’s life on Saturday. Step up for Tony now, and be his hero for all his days to come.

A volunteer writes:
I’ll admit it (the first step is admitting it). I’m a sucker for the grey ghosts. The silver sweethearts, the charcoal cuties, the dove darlings. So obviously the very sight of Stephen, a sliver of a pup laying quietly in his kennel, was enough to get my heart skipping beats. As with all great love stories it wasn’t mutual to start. I was a new face to Stephen and he was shy. And though I promised him nothing but fun and the sight of the leash clearly appealed, he stayed still as a stone statue as I swung open his kennel door. But our walk was meant to be, and with all such events, destined for greatness, it was even better than ever expected. From the moment we step outside Stephen impresses me with his leash manners. He pads happily in front of me, looking back often for guidance, and sweetly tilts his head as another dog passes to our right. Once in the park Stephen sits for his treats, poses wonderfully for photos, and after a while even grants me a snuggle or two, or three. There’s now a glint in his eye, something special and sweet I can’t quite put my finger on, and as he cocks his head again at the sound of a toy his adorable ears start to wiggle. Our shy guy is gone. And in his place, a confident, playful, and inquisitive boy has emerged. We eventually call it a day and Stephen happily hops back into his kennel. And hours later, as I’m collecting my things about to make my way home, I spot him again. This time with a staff member and two new volunteers. Stephen has been chosen to help show them the ropes. “I just love this guy.” The staff member exclaims as Stephen trots proudly in front ears bouncing. “So do I,” I reply smiling and give Stephen a quick wink. And I whisper “way to go, buddy,” as he passes me by. Stephen is waiting in adoptions at Manhattan’s ACC.
