My soon to be 8 year old just opened this today.
9YO - Can I play with your new playmobil?
8YO- No, I just got it! I’m not ready to share yet....
Me to 8YO - Are you playing with it right now?
8YO - No
Me to 8YO- Are you worried about something?
8YO- Yes, I’m worried she will mess up how I have it set up.
Me to 8YO- What if I took a picture of it so 9YO can put it back how she found it when she is done.
This is the type of language we have used since our children were born. They always ask before using something that doesn’t belong to them. The answer is not always a yes. In that case, we just love them through the no.
I’m restarting my mindful mothering group next month on Friday mornings in Avondale Estates. If you are a mama who would benefit from some support and connection, please share and bring a friend!
This week we have a "Valentine Flower Shop" in the classroom. A few of the students made signs naming our shop. When literacy comes from the child and has meaning to the child, true learning happens.
