Anyone else noticed huge flocks of crows around? I've seen them like this downtown but not in my backyard before - usually it's just three or four at a time. This is a terrible audio recording but their cacophonous chorus of caws was what alerted me to their presence. Even inside with doors and windows shut it was very loud! No punchline to the video btw - just a bunch of birds. -- Mary-Margaret

It’s hard to take a lousy photo of our lovely park, especially on a day like today.

Elected leaders, judges, law enforcement, attorneys, and local and national partners gathered last week for a roundtable discussion on a new tool meant to preve...nt someone who poses a significant threat to themselves or others from accessing a gun.

Extreme Risk Protection Orders allows the courts to temporarily prohibit someone from having guns or any deadly weapon if law enforcement officers or family members can show they pose an imminent danger to themselves or others.

“People need to know that this is an option,” stressed Chair Deborah Kafoury who convened the roundtable. “There is no perfect option, but this is one that we think can save lives.”

“In a disaster, more people will survive if your neighborhood is resilient — tightly connected, with lots of knowledge about who lives there and lots of strong institutions.”

In a disaster...“Neighbors don’t panic and run (that’s a movie myth), they adapt to the situation, take the injured to hospitals and do anything they can to be helpful.”

With some careful planning, persuading strangers to help one another in case of an emergency will mitigate damage and build strong community bonds.
