Always good to see old Power Pig tactics still being recreated well over 25 years later! Thanks for remembering RadioInsight.com! https://radioinsight.com/…/st-cloud-translator-demands-1-m…/
Power 93 The Power Pig - The Legendary WFLZ Tampa Bay welcomes former FLZ PD Tommy Chuck back to Tampa Bay! https://radioinsight.com/…/tommy-chuck-returns-tampa…/@Power
I can't possibly say enough about Tedd Webb. Not only an iconic broadcaster on Tampa Bay area radio but an adult sense of humor off air not meant for everyone lol. Tedd was also a part of the Power Pig doing sports reports with the Three Little Pigs. We wish Tedd the happiest retirement possible!
Tedd Webb To Retire From WFLA Tampa
Very sad to hear that longtime Power Pig/FLZ & 970 WFLA news anchor Martin Giles has passed.
Martin was here before we all got here. He has faithfully showed up every single day as far back as we can remember (from Z93 to today), always de...livers a newscast that he made sure we will always remember PLUS talk about later that day. Martin is a top-notch pro at what he does, delivering not only the serious news but those one liners that only he can... and does it with that smirk and tongue in cheek so far across his face you hear it across the radio. Martin also doubles as a news anchor for AM Tampa Bay on 970 WFLA and has also been heard on Orlando's 540 WFLA.
Remember Jomama's Quiet Storm on The Power Pig? Here him TONIGHT on Q105!!
Former Power Pig/93-3FLZ boss Jeff Kapugi returns to iHeartMedia DC/Baltimore as SVP/Programming. Cool thing about this is it teams him back up with FLZ alumns Toby Knapp, Kane, Riley Couture and of course he and Tommy Chuck working directly together now as well. An all star team for sure. https://www.allaccess.com/…/iheartmedia-names-jeff-kapugi-r…
Problems continue for Bubba...?
Congrats to former 93-3FLZ night guy Carson (Todd Zarnitz) who was handed afternoon duties at iHeart top 40 station Z100 Portland. Carson will also handle afternoons for top 40 (ready for this coincidence...) Power933/Seattle.
Here is the actual press release from WWBA's website regarding Bubba's show. Very interesting to note that current WWBA Program Manager, Tom Paleveda, was the Program Director of news/talk 620 WSUN/Tampa when it became "Entertaining Talk Radio For The 90's". Paleveda had orchestrated a deal with another highly popular Tampa Bay rock morning show that had lost it's FM flagship at the time, Ron & Ron, to anchor WSUN's morning timeslot. https://www.newstalkflorida.com/…/bubba-love-sponge-wwba-8…/
In a very interesting move, news/talk AM 820 News WWBA/Tampa has picked up the Bubba The Love Sponge Show says RadioInsight.com. Two interesting notes: #1) I don't believe WWBA and it's parent company are subscribers to Nielsen . #2) WWBA's 50,000 watt daytime signal reaches from Tallahassee and over to Panama City and all the way south to Key West along the west side of Florida. Coverage map in the comments below.
Just a thought: If the Power Pig existed today, imagine what the sweepers would sound like and say in today's era of President Trump & political climate LOL.
I am sad to report the passing of Power Pig/93-3FLZ/970 WFLA longtime, I mean LONGTIME - traffic reporter Gary Mchenry. I personally worked with Gary for about ten of those years at Metro Traffic, 970 WFLA and more. He was always so much fun, always had a joke...
Bubba now claiming Mike Calta (formerly "Cowhead") conspired against him. You can read the entire lawsuit here:
