Nice rink, lessons are on time and good coaches. Many programs offered, and there have been recent improvements in customer service and communication that show they care.

For as much as we pay for a tournament, need toilet paper and paper towels. And please don't close the snack bar on a Friday at 4. SERIOUSLY we hustled to get our kids here and you close and the wait ...for food is ridiculous! See More

This summarizes the following review: Buyer Beware -- your time and monetary investment in the Exton Edge Figure Skating Program and the synchro program in particular at Power Play Rinks in Exton may at risk, and your child's experience may not be a pleasant one.

For background, we have skated at Power Play through the Learn to Skate and figure skating programs for 5 years. We watched it grow, and despite issues with poor communication at times and promises about ice time and programs that were not always kept, we were -- overall -- happy.

A few weeks ago, the club/synchro head coach resigned to leave for another rink in West Chester. She gave 2 weeks' notice, but was asked to leave immediately. As a business woman, I understood the rink's decision because she was leaving to a competitor, but as a parent of one of the team's skaters, I was concerned because we had our final team competition planned for 3/18/17 and would be going with our secondary coach only. After a parent meeting and many messages, the majority chose to move forward with the competition. This was important, because adjustments to a routine can't me made easily without a coach available who specializes in choreography. If one skater chose not to go, we wouldn't be able to adjust the routine. For the past two weeks, the team practiced hard and through challenging times as the skaters adjusted to not having their regular coach.

After hearing rumors that some parents didn't want to go to the competition in MA (on the schedule since the beginning of the season -- now citing cost, but also because we would compete against only 1 team), the Power Play rink manager sent out a message to the parents yesterday (3/13) stating that unless 100% of the team agreed to attend, we would cancel our participation.

I found this to be unprofessional and contrary to how to manage a team sport, because it allowed one vote to alter the team’s participation in a long-planned-for competition. Additionally, the vote was confidential and channeled through the rink manager – he said to prevent “bullying.

Today, 3/14/17, we were told we were told that we would not go to the competition because "multiple" parents said they did not want to attend. We were not given details, but it was NOT described as the majority. So, now we're NOT attending the competition we paid for (the synchro fee for the year was $3300, plus $500 for club), and one of only three on the season schedule. The only monetary compensation we're being offered in return is $75 off our spring skating pass at Power Play.

My daughter is very disappointed, because she had been given the important role as the base for a kick line and she wanted one more chance to display her skills. She wanted to skate with her team and that opportunity has been taken away -- not by a few parents' decisions in my opinion, but by poor rink management that would allow the team's fate to be swayed by a small minority. We have been told the season is now concluded, giving the team no chance to say goodbye or celebrate their achievements, after spending hours in practice together for the past six months.

The reason I say "Buyer Beware" is this -- if you invest in the synchro program at Power Play in the future, your child's ability to participate at a competition that is on the season's schedule might be taken away by a few parents who don't want to make the travel, simply because it is deemed inconvenient or too expensive. There are no controls in place to ensure that something like this won't happen again. I am convinced that problems like this will continue to plague the program due to the poor and ineffective rink management. We have now made our final decision to move to the rink in West Chester, even though we live 5 minutes from Power Play. On the bright side, we have learned a valuable lesson -- I will be asking pointed questions and carefully reviewing the contracts for our participation in programs like this moving forward to ensure that my daughter doesn't have to face this sort of disappointment again.

One of my favorite rinks! The stands are warm, it's clean, and the people are friendly! They also run a great club hockey program that is organized and fair. The summer Bulls program is worth every penny.

More of the same, the rink is okay, one sheet constantly occupied. The Kings organization that dwells there is much like youth hockey everywhere. All about the cash. Parent coaches and no opportuni...ties if you don't know someone or sink cash into every one of their programs. See More
