Due to the recent storms, we know that there are many trees down on the trails. If you can safely move the trees yourself, we would appreciate the help. If they are too big, please let us know where they are (which area, trail color, and some nearby landmark would help). We will get to them as soon as we can. Please be patient and be careful on the trail. Thank you!
Come out for a breath of fresh air while getting some exercise by joining Walkable Reading and Reading’s Trails Committee on a Winter Walk in Bare Meadow. The walk is suitable for both children and adults. Be sure to wear appropriate clothing and footwear for walking in the winter woods. And after the walk, join us back at the Cabin for hot chocolate and snacks.
The Trails Committee is finishing the boardwalk at Alligator Alley this Saturday Dec 2. A 35 foot section will be installed and we could use some help. Meet at the Mattera Cabin at 9am or join us in the Town Forest. Park at Wood End School and walk in using the trail. Any and all help is appreciated, any time you can give is OK. We will finish at 3pm.
We are looking for volunteers to help us with trail maintenance after the wind storm. Please join us at the Materra Cabin on Sunday Nov. 12 at 9am. No experience necessary! Bring your enthusiasm and maybe a pair of gloves. Thank you!
From the storm on Sunday evening there has been some damage and trees down on the trails. We know about the Higgins bridge and the 5 trees down in the Kurchian Woods. Please let us know if you see any other issues that we need to address. If you can remove the debris, please do. We count on you to help us keep the trails clear. Thank you!
Join Walkable Reading and the Reading Trails Committee for a fall foliage walk in the Town Forest. Meet at Wood End Elementary School. The walk is suitable for all ages and fitness levels. Hope to see you there!
This is a great time of year to get out and enjoy the trails! Please let us know if you encounter any obstacles on the trails that are not easily removed and we'll take care of them. Happy Fall!
We had a great group of volunteers to help us extend the boardwalk and do some trail trimming in the Town Forest around Alligator Alley. The project went quicker with so many eager, helpful volunteers. Thank you!!
Join the Trails Committee for some end-of-summer trail work. The Town Forest boardwalk needs to be extended to span a muddy area. Help is needed at 9:30 AM to carry materials to the site and a few strong backs are needed to lift and level the existing ramp. Finally, a few skilled workers are needed to help build a new ramp. Meet at the Council Ring; park on Grove Street or at the Wood End School. Teens are welcome; please email Tom Gardiner at firstname.lastname@example.org to volunteer.
Don't forget about Walk Reading Weekend! Join us for guided walks on Saturday and Sunday. Or get out there on your own to enjoy our beautiful town. Hope to see you out and about!
