Time to try another afternoon ambush! This time I’m going to try overlooking 5 avenues. The wind is in my face and I’m feeling lucky today. I’ll post if I see anything. Good luck to everyone who’s hunting today!

I think every hunter can understand this!

My morning perspective!

...

As I sit here, at sunrise, overlooking a foggy field I watch and listen to the woods wake up. Mother Nature rises out of her slumber and renews her task of giving life to everything on this planet. She’s resilient and self healing. And she will outlast mankind.

I for one, realize that God created Mother Nature to last man through all generations.

Because, he knew man would always need a place to go, clear his mind, reset his compass, and realize that all is TRUELY right with the world.

It’s the last day of deer season in Alabama. Rain is coming but I think I’ll make a day of it sitting in the box stand. Loggers have done a number on our fields but they’ve also opened up new views.

Nice afternoon to try ambushing an unsuspecting buck! Their in full rut and hopefully between scent, calling and rattling I’ll see something surprising!

I copied this post from Chad’s Facebook page on how he recovered his buck 48 hours after shooting him with the help of some guys using infrared technology mounted to a drone. It made the difference for Chad!

My new friend Rhett with Hog Rush put this promo YouTube video together of my buck recovery. He proved professional service and has top notch equipment. Contact him if you ever can not find your trophy deer.

He definitely made a believer out of me!!! Thanks for all your help brother!!! #hogrush

Congratulations Chad! Nice buck!

Setting up an afternoon ambush on a new skidder trail that parallels a hardwood bottom. We’ll see if it produces anything.

The timber company is conducting thinning operations on the land right now. That’s ok by me. It presents new hunting opportunities in areas that were too thick to hunt before! Saw 3 different does sitting on a log for an hour.

I got the first camera picture of this buck (facing left)on 2/17/2015 (post rut) and figured this deer was probably 5 1/2 plus years old if not older. It appears that his rack is actually in decline. I had not seen him since this photo was taken and assumed he had been harvested or died.

Then on 8/30/2017 I got the second photo (facing right) and was shocked that he was still alive one and a half years later.
How old do you guess this deer to be?
Anybody want to try to guess his age?

For those of us who spend time in the woods just know that it's not a good idea to get in a copperhead's personal space.
Two days in the hospital and a great deal of pain is not worth the trouble! 😩
Luckily a week later there are no lasting effects.
