One of the most telling things about the respect Jack Ketchum had for his fans was that he would not sit down at his table. He was with us almost every year and you would be hard pressed to find him in his chair. If you were taking the time to meet him and you had to stand, Jack was going to stand too. He engaged you in sincere conversation, listening and learning from you and giving you responses with no ego or exaggeration. He was real, he was humble and he understood absol...utely everyone he encountered in life, good or bad, on a human level. This depth of knowledge about people and what made them tick made him one of the greatest writers the world of horror has ever known. His protagonists were immediately relatable and his antagonists made you so angry you seethed. You knew his characters because you'd encountered people just like them, or seen some of your own qualities in their behavior, and before you knew it you cared so much you couldn't put the book down. That was Jack's talent, putting people you knew in the most physically and emotionally disturbing situations and letting you squirm until the final scene. He was as masterful a writer as he was a human being, the brilliance of the man's mind and heart extending into every story he wrote. He wasn't just a guest at our show, he was a great friend, and his passing has weakened us tremendously. Jack Ketchum/Dallas Mayr, we love you, we miss you, and we thank you for your years of friendship and for all of the incredible writing you've given us. You will forever be in our hearts.

Our deepest appreciation and respect goes to everyone who came to Rock and Shock this past weekend. Your support keeps us going, and we never take that lightly. We hope to see you next year, and THANK YOU!
For everyone taking part in the Kane Hodder as Jason photo op, please get here early! It starts at 5:00 when doors open. When you get into the lobby go right to the registration table and check in, then go directly to the top of the escalator to the photo room. The photo ops move very quickly, so if you decide to take a detour to some other part of the show first it could very well be over by the time you get there. Also, tickets will be available at the door for those that didn't preorder.
We received the word just now that Tom Payne will be Saturday/Sunday only, as he has been held over today for filming and won't get in until late tonight. We're sorry for the inconvenience.
If you are coming to Rock and Shock this weekend, we appreciate and thank you in advance for your support. As we say each year, the next several days are ultra crunch time for us, so we won't have a lot of time to check in here. If you have questions the best way to reach us is by PM, and we will try to respond at some point. Comments on posts and posts to the page wall may get missed. We hope you will be spending part of your weekend, or even all of your weekend, with us, and again we thank you.
