Darius Mayers rushed for two touchdowns and caught a TD pass to lead Roselle to a 35-0 victory over Roselle Park before 545 yesterday in Roselle Park. Roselle Park leads its series with Roselle, 47-38-8. Mayers scored on runs of 92 and 1 yard and hauled in a 25-yard TD pass from Satiir Stevenson for the other score. He finished with 206 yards rushi...ng on 14 carries. "I can't really put into words how much this means to me," Mayers, a senior, said. "This rivalry has been around for 93 years and for me to end my high school career with this kind of game is awesome. I am so proud to be able to help my fellow seniors go out as winners."

MANASQUAN-In one of the wildest games of the weekend, The Manasquan Warriors defeated the Roselle Rams 33-32 to advance to the second round of the Central Jersey Group 2 Playoffs. The Rams threatened to take control of the contest early when they ate 6 minutes off the first quarter on a scoring drive capped by QB Satiir Stevenson's 1 yard TD run fo...r a 7-0 advantage. Kodie McNamara would answer for the Warriors on a 30-yard TD run that would deadlock the score at 7 Manasquan QB Tyler Saito fumbled with 2 minutes to go in the first quarter, and James Womble returned the loose ball for a touchdown to give the Rams a 13-7 adavntage. The missed extra point set the tone for both teams as how this contest would be decided. Tyler Saito would take control of the game for his Warriors late in the 4th quarter while trailing 26-20. With 5 minutes remaining, Saito on a QB keeper scored the TD that put Manasquan ahead 27-26. On the ensuing kickoff, Roselle was unable to handle the kick and the Warriors recovered. Saito lead his team down the field again, and this time capped the drive with a 10 yard TD run. The missed extra point gave the Warriors a 33-26 lead with 4 minutes remaining. The Warriors had possession on their own 4 yard line on 4th down with under one minute remaining. The Warriors punted and Roselle had one more possession. Thomas Taylor caught a TD pass from Satiir Stevenson with .5 seconds remaining and the score was 33-32 in favor of Manasquan. Roselle Head Coach Lou Grasso decided against overtime and opted for the 2 point conversion. Satiir Stevenson's pass felll incomplete and the ball game ended with the Warriors escaping 33-32. Manasquan will anxiously await Saturday Night's Matawan vs Monmounth encounter to see whom, where, and when they will play next week.
