We stayed as a birthday treat and even though the staff were friendly and the breakfast was nice, we felt deceived by the online pictures. Our room (no.9) was SO small and the bed was smaller than th...e average double bed. When we asked for a room lower down as I have a displaced kneecap, they wanted to charge an extra £60!!! It was the first time my husband has booked in for us, and he felt bad for choosing this place! See More

Went for Sunday lunch, can highly recommend! The dishes served were full of flavour and we all cleared our plates. Definitely the best Yorkshire puds I've had away from home. The starter of butternut ...squash soup with truffle oil was delicious, as were the rare beef and slow cooked pork belly for mains. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Overall a very enjoyable afternoon. See More

Felt like it was falsely advertised.

Ample parking is just false - first come first served basest along the road in front of the hotel. Restricted parking would be better. One night I had a 10 minut...e walk with my youngest in my arms due to the lack of parking - hotel were not helpful.

Child friendly - debatable. If you get offered a room on the third floor just say no...unless you have climbing gear with you - ropes & boots. Stairs are ridiculously narrow and steep with 'rope' hand rails.

We looked for reasons to stay out as long as possible just so we didn't have to climb those stairs!

Breakfast was okay but far too pretentious for me. Just couldn't relax between the staff hovering around or the tiny breakfast room!

Didn't have any other food because of price and the good range of local restaurants.

Nice enough for a couples weekend away but not for a family break.

Staff were really nice and room was also good 😊. Lovely little lounge area with a nice open fire and even laid on some complametry cheese and biscuits in the evening with a nice cup of tea. Parking.. 10 mins walk away.. Room OK, for £180.00 per night I would have liked Dressing Gowns and a Hair Dryer. Carpet needs replacing and stains on the settee and all doors...Shower took 10 minuets... to heat up, please descale the shower head. The balcony needs looking at, floor going to rot soon. Not worth £180.00 more like £120.00. And then they wanted to charge us an extra £20.00 for breakfast when our booking included that.. Had a good night but please check what you are paying for. Friendly staff and family atmosphere. Wonderful view and surroundings. We have never seen such a spread at breakfast, ranging from the usual to a slab of honeycombe and salmon and cold meats, also muf...fins! Excellent full English in addition if you can manage it! A complimentary cheeseboard in the evening. We appreciate the honesty bar. A rarity these days. We always stay here. See More

Quaint, the views from our room were breathtaking. Service was excellent. Staff very pleasant and helpful.
Breakfast was everything you could ask for.
Close to a few amazing restaurants as well as the... in hours dining room.
Parking in peak season would be a bugger though.
