Will you immediately call the Department of Justice’s Office of the Pardon Attorney Robert A. Zauzmer at 202-616-6070, ext. 4, and give him this message?
“Hello, my name is_____________, and I’m calling on President Obama to release all currently held political prisoners from prison before he leaves office. Leonard Peltier (#89637-132, USP Coleman), Veronza Bowers (#35316-136, USP Atlanta), and Dr. Mutulu Shakur (#83205-012, Victorville USP) represent a small number of curren...tly incarcerated individuals who have served over 30 years in prison each as a result of the illegal COINTELPRO program that targeted social justice activists and communities of color. (For full list of PP's https://goo.gl/hiAVKX) They have served their time and deserve to finally come home to their families and communities.”
Once you’ve called Attorney Robert A. Zauzmer, please spread the word on social media by using hashtag #FreeEmAll

#MustRead on elderly prisoners...

http://www.nytimes.com/…/why-keep-the-old-and-sick-behind-b…

Our fellow editors of the Certain Days calendar are elder and aging prisoners. David Gilbert, Herma...n Bell and Robert Seth Hayes are all over 65 and have been in prison for 35+ years. In fact, they are ideal candidates for medical parole or clemency.

Even the NY Times gets it about aging prisoners. They are a remarkably low recidivism risk and keeping people in prison on such long sentences is just cruelty masquerading as pubic safety.

Almost all of the political prisoners of the 70/80s are over 50. Time to free them all! It would be just if Governor Cuomo (NY) used his clemency power on the state level to grant clemency to long term prisoners like our editors and many others.

Other Political Prisoners over age 50 include:

It would be more humane and cost-efficient to free elderly, infirm prisoners who are unlikely to commit crimes again.
