If you are in Los Angeles on the evening of March 6th, do not miss Candida Alvarez speaking for ArtCenter MFA's Graduate Seminar. She will talk about her work, her major exhibition "Here," and her Fall 2017 collaboration with Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons Homme Plus and Shirt collections. A very special opportunity during a semester of absolutely phenomenal guests! (I taught there for more than 10 years so I know it was always great but this is exceptional!!)

Congratulations to PTDW Professor Michiko Itatani on the opening of the new CTA station at Washington/Wabash in the Chicago Loop that includes her work:

"The Washington/Wabash station also features a new public artwork created especially for the station by Chicago-based artist Michiko Itatani. Two large art glass panels located on both sides of the mezzanine – Cosmic Wanderlust 1 & 2 – reflect on human history and culture of the past, present and future. The artist’s multi-c...olored perspective of this theme features images of libraries, museums, public spaces and performance halls intermingled with images of the cosmos."

And, to top it off, Mayor Rahm Emanuel proclaimed 8/31/2017 as "Michiko Itatani Day in Chicago"! #michikoitatani Michiko Itatani

Up through this Sunday, “Candida Alvarez: Here” surveys the artist’s ebullient work at the Chicago Cultural Center.

After four decades of unstinting production but too little representation, Candida Alvarez is enjoying something of a comeback.

"As a young artist developing a visual language, the most important things for me right now are time and space ..." Tully Satre's priorities are on point (and, yes, that is a School of the Art Institute of Chicago cap). His work is on view in the Summer Exhibition 2017 at the Royal Academy in London until August 20th.

Massive congratulations to Professor Candida Alvarez for her collaboration with Rei Kawakubo/Comme-des-Garçons. Several looks walked in Paris last week as a part of CdG's Homme Plus and Shirt lines.
