Congratulations Class of '84! We WON the Reunion Challenge. We had the HIGHEST percentage class participation in giving, finishing nearly a full percentage point ahead of the 2nd place class. (We finished with 26.7% of the class donating). We are #1 among all 9 reunion classes this year. Thank you. This was truly a great team effort. See you Friday!

By now, I know that you have received a lot of emails and letters from SMU about our up-coming reunion. These letters can be overwhelming, especially since they all encourage us to give. I am also on the receiving end, so I know that all the correspondence can be frustrating.

This post is simply a personal request from a fellow member of the class of '84. And, I want to apologize up front. Yes, this is a request to make a small gift, even if it is $5, to SMU before November ...14. But, as I said, this request is personal.

We all have great memories from our time at SMU. We all want SMU to be the best it can be. And SMU is better than it has EVER been thanks to the dedication of thousands of alumni, friends and administration. We are in the last year of our incredibly successful Second Century Campaign. All of the goals of the Campaign have been met and/or surpassed, except for one.

A key element in the ranking of a university by U.S. News and others is the percentage of alumni who make a gift to the school. The size of the gift does not matter; the percentage of alumni who give does. The goal that SMU has set for the Campaign for the percentage of alumni who give is 25%. We are close, but we are not at 25% yet.

Since this is the last year of the Campaign, it is a pivotal time to have our reunion. We plan to be #1 among all 9 reunion classes in giving participation. Our goal is 30% of our class and we have just 99 donors to go. As I said, even $5 would be great; the amount of the gift is not important; the fact that class members give is.

As I said, this request of you is personal. It is very easy to do and it will do so much for OUR school. I hope that you will make your small gift now and take PRIDE in the fact that you are making a huge difference for SMU and for our class.

Please visit or to register and make your gift.

Another option is to buy a Personal Paver. Please see
Pavers are a great way to remember your time at SMU and to honor friends and family members. And pavers count toward your reunion gift.

Please call or email me if you have any questions. I hope that you will join with me in helping make our reunion the best yet and in helping SMU be the best that it can be.

Thank you,

Doyle Glass
