Renee Boulis' Memorial Service will be at Moorestown Friends Meeting House on Main St. at Chester Ave. at 2 pm on Sunday, July 21.

Renee joined STEM immediately upon moving to Moorestown in the 70's and remained active even after moving away from town in 2007. Some may recall seeing her working with the Strawbridge Lake Macroinvertebrate activity at the 2012 STEM Steps Out . She even remained a Natural Area Care Site Leader for Little Woods on the Rancocas trekking over fro...m her Philadelphia home with husband, Matt.

During the intervening time Renee served as president, created the Natural Resources Inventory Area Folders (see these at her Memorial Service), hosted several Annual Picnics and meetings and just generally was very involved.

She is greatly missed.

NAC October 6th

Please join our work party on Saturday Oct. 6th 2012 at Pompeston Park (where Georgian Drive ends). We will be clearing and removing invasives around the edges of the park and walking the trail downstream of Fernwood along the Pompeston to remove any trash.

At the edges of Pompeston Park we hope to remove the invasive bittersweet, multi-flora rose, wild grape, wisteria, and burning bush that are pulling the down the trees and smothering out the native ground c...over.

Wear a long sleeve shirt and long pants. Bring work gloves and hand clippers and/or loppers. We have extra clippers, loppers, grabbers, saws, trash bags and gloves.

Be there at 9:30 AM and we’ll be done by 11:30.
Bring a friend and help us out. Explore this gem of a park, an unusually long and beautiful trail downstream along Pompeston Creek.

Georgian Drive is the first left off North Riding road after its intersection with Riverton Road. Just park along the street at the end of Georgian and look for the signs.

If you have any questions e-mail Tom Hottenstein at thottenstein@comcast.net.

JOIN STEM WORKERS IN SOUTH VALLEY WOODS TUESDAY MORNING

Come to South Valley Woods next Tuesday morning, September 18 from 9:30 to 11:30 am to help refurbish and clear the trails from the effects of a rainy summer and a series of storms. This relatively large woods, hidden behind Oldershaw Ave. homes and the South Valley School, is easily appreciated while driving along Rte. 38 – or, best by hiking its trails. Access to the park’s trail system is at the end of South Stanwi...ck Road by South Valley School or from the school playground behind the backboard. The trails need to be freshened up by clearing debris/fallen branches and encroaching vegetation. Some lining of the paths and blazing is needed to keep hikers headed the right way.

Even if you have never attended one of these sessions, please join STEM’s seasoned Natural Area Care workers as we work and chat. Volunteers will work to freshen up the trails by lopping, sawing and clipping fallen branches and overgrowth.

Please wear long sleeves and pants to protect yourselves. Bring gloves, loppers , clippers if you have them – although we have a few extras. We will gather at the STEM signs at the South Valley School parking lot at the end of South Stanwick Road. Parking is in far end of the school parking lot if there is adequate space or on Oldershaw Ave. if there is not
