Science Museum of Long IslandScience Museum in Manhasset, New York
Due to inclement weather predicted for tomorrow, 3/21/2018, and the fact that local schools will be closed, SMLI will also cancel all activities scheduled for tomorrow. This will allow time for our driveways and parking lots to be plowed, walkways to be shoveled, and will ensure trouble-free access to our buildings once the storm has passed. All scheduled activities will be rescheduled. In the meantime, enjoy this unusual weather and, most of all, stay safe!
Reminder: Sponsored by SMLI, SciFitness, and Whole Foods in honor of National Nutrition Month, join us for a FREE lecture at the Science Museum on Sunday, March 11, at 2:00 p.m.. "Go Further With Food." Families welcome. Registration requested, but not necessary. Click below for more info and to register:
When "Guess Who's Coming to Read" comes around each year in Manhasset, you'd guess correctly if you included teachers from the Science Museum of Long Island! Each year, one of SMLI's teachers reads to classes at Munsey Park and Shelter Rock Elementary Schools. Can you spot SMLI's own "Mr. Moose?"
Shout out to the loyal YAI workers who come to SMLI every Wednesday! Yesterday's unseasonably warm weather offered the opportunity to get a head start on the "spring cleaning" of the grounds at the Leeds Pond Preserve. Our Wednesday group of YAI workers spent a couple of hours cleaning up a winter's worth of partying by raccoons near our dumpsters! Oh, do those critters like to make a mess!
Get ready for a fun family event you WILL NOT WANT TO MISS. When (As-Seen-On-TV) "Wildman" Steve Brill leads a foraging expedition in Central Park and elsewhere, participants not only have a great time but also learn FROM AN EXPERT how to forage for edibles in the most unlikely of locations! Prepare to be amazed as you and your children discover what the critters on SMLI's grounds already know: There's some mighty fine eatin' at the Science Museum! Click below to register today!
Children off from school next week? It's not too late to register them for one or more days of exciting hands-on science FUN at the Science Museum of Long Island! To register, click below.
