RESULTS for our 2016 Soiree – Meet & Greet For Friends and Supporters!

This year our Soiree was once again, fabulous! There were over 50 people in attendance! Everybody shared strong camaraderie! It was a very joyful evening for all of us!

In attendance were, Sickle Cell Clients, Board Members, an ex-Board Member, Volunteers, SCC Staff, and Zion Assembly Church purchased a table for 10 people. Jeannine Peterson from Hamilton Health Center supported our Sickle Cell cause. Plu...s, people who are regular attendees of our past annual events were there, and newcomers who said they would be back for future events with the Sickle Cell Council. Everybody is welcome to attend our events, each of which, are filled with great times!

Our Executive Director, Mr. Joseph Robinson, Jr., gave a compassionate, “Welcome and Goodnight” that evening. Our wonderful Volunteers registered everybody and escorted people to their assigned tables. Plus, Joe and a long term volunteer, Rosetta Archie, managed the table where payments were made by credit card. The food at the Radisson was delicious throughout the evening. And, our pianist/vocalist, Ms. Chris Purcell, enjoyed entertaining and providing sing-a-longs, also! It was a perfect evening!

Many people were bidding on 24 gift baskets and retail items in our Silent Auction. We all enjoyed Pastor Wingfield winning a massage for himself. Woo! Hoo! And, Dr. Herman Lawson was right on when he answered the questions of the night, “What is the town that Judy kept speaking of all night long?” CENTRALIA! Ha Ha You needed to be there to understand that joke! He won a nice prize for being the first to yell out that correct answer!

There was $5,000 raised that evening from all in attendance, plus, the Silent Auction bidding, our generous sponsors: BB&T and Hollywood Casino, and our wonderful donors: Freddie Player, and Ernest Davis.

We send out a very big THANK YOU to everyone who participated in our final annual event of 2016! We appreciate the strength in our supporters behind our important Sickle Cell cause!

Save the Date!

Each year in the spring, SCDAA visits Capitol Hill where we encourage our member organizations, friends, and supporters of sickle cell disease to join us in speaking to federal legislative representatives about our federal initiatives to educate them and also ask for their support for continued funding. This year's Sickle Cell Summit on Capitol Hill will be held on June 9, 2016.

This is your chance to speak directly to your representative and tell personal stories about the impact of this disease. The SCDAA initiatives provide federal dollars to local sickle cell disease organizations through competitive grants. SCDAA only received administrative costs from the coordinating centers in charge of administering the grants. Stay tuned for more information.

RESULTS of 2016 Sickle Cell 17th Annual Bowling Party!

We were very pleased seeing new faces and regular bowlers who joined us this year in support of Sickle Cell Council and our wonderful Clients!

DATE WAS: Saturday, April 16th...
LOCATION WAS: ABC North Lanes, 5303 Locust Lane, Hbg, PA 17109

This event was held, In Memory of Dr. Donald Spigner, SCPASCC Founder.

We were very happy to have Senator Rob Teplitz, Rep Patty Kim, and John "Ski" Sygielski, join us this year! Each of these influential people give support to SCPASCC, in various ways. We appreciate their interest and ability to stand behind their words which offer to help our Sickle Cell Council and Clients.

Each year, ABC North Lanes shows support of SCPASCC and our important Sickle Cell cause. The cost is only $20 per person, for 3.5 hrs of Bowling, and includes shoes, food, drinks, and dessert! Plus, people bid (donate) $5 on our famous Grudge Match, which is held during the last half hour of the Bowling Party. The Grudge Match is titled: "Who can beat the director?"

This year, a great bowler, Calvin Lawson took on our Executive Director, Joseph Robinson, Jr. Both men enjoy bowling. Calvin is on leagues and is a regular bowler for many years, now. He has seven 300 games under his belt! Joe had won the last 3 of 4 Grudge Matches with his strong bowling style. But, this year, John Calvin beat him with his consistent high scores. Joe did his best each frame, but Calvin kept those strikes and spares adding up! Thank you both, for offering a fun ending to our Bowling Party!

The Grudge Match "Winning Bidder" this year was none other than, Bobby Lawson! His bid was on John Calvin Lawson and by exactly how many points he won by. We were very happy to present Bobby with a, $50 Giant Gift Card!

The Lawson Family, who hosts this event each year, called out many quality RAFFLE PRIZES using everybody's ticket stub in the RAFFLE DRAWINGS. Our thanks to Calvin Lawson, Dr. Herman Lawson, and their family members for helping to make this another great event on behalf of SCPASCC and our Clients.

Please come out to support our nonprofit and Sickle Cell Clients next year in April. Call: Judy Chandler, Events Coordinator w:(717) 234-3358 to find out the date and time and to register. You can, also, check our Facebook and Website www.scpascc.org for the information early next year.

We look forward to having you join us! Thank you!
