Opioid abuse and overdose is a Nation problem. To help combat this problem, the South Sioux City Police Department has entered into a partnership with The U.S. Department of Justice and the Drug Enforcement Administration to help collect and properly dispose of opioids and all other unused and unwanted prescription drugs. We have placed a Drug Box in the front lobby of the Law Enforcement Center at 701 West 29th street. If you have unwanted drugs or medications, we woul...d urge you to drop them off at the LEC in our Drug Box. The Police Department will then collect and properly dispose of these items in a secure and environmentally safe manor. The LEC’s front lobby hours are from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday thru Friday, except holidays.
Items that can be collected are prescription drugs, prescription patches and ointments, over the counter medications, vitamins, and samples.
Items that are not to be collected are needles and sharps, nonprescription lotions and liquids, aerosols, inhalers, hydrogen peroxide, and thermometers.
Please help us keep these items out of the wrong hands and out of our landfills, water and sewer systems by dropping them off at our Drug Box.
The power of teamwork.
Kudos to the SSC maintenance team for all of their hard work and snow removal to help students arrive safely to school. Our sidewalks, parking lot, and blackto...p were ready for students & staff. A Great big thank you also to the South Sioux City Police Department and South Sioux City, NE for your continued support of snow removal and traffic support! Throughout the day today Covington had the support of our district maintenance, SSC city snow removal, and South Sioux City police to support a safe dismissal at the end of the day.
Parents, please allow extra time & patience for drop off and pick up. Please continue to cross only at the crosswalk. Also be aware of children that might be behind large piles of snow that may be hard to see.
Thank you also to the Covington staff that are outside daily to support the safe arrival and dismissal of our Covington students!
