Save the date, free CPR training for families on Aug. 20.

Save the date, share with friends: Our annual free CPR training for families will be held Aug. 20 at the MERI (Medical Education and Research Institute) at 44 S...outh Cleveland. One-hour sessions will be offered at 9 a.m., 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Please register in advance by calling 901-287-5992. Walk-ins are welcome. Dress comfortably and bring a towel or something to kneel upon.

What better gift could you give than the gift of water safety? We all know how important it is, especially for children, to learn how to swim. However, many can...not afford swim lessons. That's where you come in! Memphis Pool is working with Splash Mid-South to bring water safety to kids in need.
Become an Aqua Angel by coming into one of our supply stores, taking an ornament from our lovely Aqua Angel tree, and donating $50 for a child to receive swim lessons!

We need your help sharing the gift of water safety this holiday season. With a $25 donation, you can be an Aqua Angel. Each gift provides two weeks of free swim lessons to a local child. Fresh off a three-medal performance at the 2012 Olympic Games, swimmer Cullen Jones visited Memphis, Tenn., on Wed., Sept. 5 as part of the USA Swimming Foundation’s Make a Splash with Cullen Jones Tour. This tour is presented by Phillips 66. The six-city national water safety tour is designed to educate parents, kids and communities about the importance of learning to swim. Olympian Rowdy Gaines joined Cullen in Memphis. The pair talked with students from KIPP Collegiate Elementary School at the Bickford Aquatic Center.

Nice article in today's The Commercial Appeal about our volunteer Julia Stowers. We're thankful to have great people like Julia teaching kids in Memphis how to swim.

When Julia Stowers was a youngster, she often was upset at the end of her many competitive swim meets.

Congratulations to Cullen Jones on the silver medal in the 4X100 relay Sunday! We're sending our good wishes for his events on Wednesday and Sunday. Our swimmers are looking forward to seeing him in Memphis in September.

Jones will compete in two Olympic individual events for the first time. The 100 free final is Wednesday and the 50 free final is Friday.

We're going to be on NBC's Rock Center with Brian Williams Thursday at 9 p.m.! University of Memphis researcher Carol Irwin talks about her research on minorities and swimming. The Memphis Splash swim team will also be featured.…/memphis-swim-program-…/
